Try reseting the hard drive - cycle the power or unplug it for a minute then plug it back in.

Mine used to do that too.
It's working much better since I repaired the power supply.
The power supply shipped with the disk is really bad and dies in less than one year. I had to replace mine 3 times !
I'm now using a power supply I repaired by replacing the 5 capacities and it's working fine.
I hope that will help.

What says that?

I don't have enough info.

Check your connections, make sure everything is powered correctly. And make sure you installed the software that came with it.

I'll have to look into it a little more but off the top of my head I would say that the nic may be going bad or some other component of the etherdisk. You can try opening it up and putting the hard drive into an enclosure and connecting it to a pc via usb to get the data, you can also then share the usb drive and use it over the network, however removing the hard drive may void any warranty you may have. If the hard drive is in fact bad then you should be able to replace it and then continue to use the device. I'll get back to you when I get more info about the device.

I had the same problem in Vista but it spontaneously resolved itself after some time, but as a temporary solution you can just map to it. Figure out it's IP address and then go to: Start->right click on Network->Map Network Drive...->fill in the Folder field (i.e. \\ ) and presto you should see the login screen (admin/admin by default). It's not the best but works well enough. Hope that helps.

Just an idea. When you set pass words or any important information write all information in a note book and keep it in a drawer someplace where you will not lose it. When things change write the new ones down and cross out the old ones. I save a lot of head aches that way.

Pushing in the paperclip should unlock it, but if still jammed, may have to wreck drive by pulling off front of drive drawer thing. Maybe try putty knife to push cd down some of that's holding it from opening.

Replace perhaps, but repair is most difficult. The electronics are miniature and it takes special tools to do repairs.
