LaCie (300950) 400 GB Hard Drive Questions & Answers
Lacie 320 GB Hard Drive acting as if full when it's not.
Simplest solution: back up the data on the drive and repartition it (which will wipe it). Otherwise it sounds like it could be a problem with the file tree or structure of the drive, the configuration files could be corrupt, some program could have stored temporary files in a hidden place that cannot be deleted without making the program delete them, etc. If you are on a mac, spotlight Disk Utility and use it to repartition. If you are on a PC use the search thing from the start menu and find a program called disk management (or something similar to that, you'll know it when you see it.) external drives are annoying. i kick mine into the wall periodically for good measure.
200 gb d2 extreme
The whining noise and the low clicking sound are indicate mechnical problem.
My recommendation to you is to backup all the important data you have on it ASAP before it will crash and you will not able to do it !!!!
Hard drive is "full" though I only have 186G on it
here“s a thought!
You can try running chkdsk cause maybe your freespace is being reported incorrectly!
Open command prompt:
Go to Start->Run then type cmd and press enter
Run the chkdsk utility:
where x is the drive letter of the removable drive
at the prompt type chkdsk x: /f and press enter
now windows will scan for filesystem errors and fix any if found.
Also on another note, items in your recycle bin count towards the amount of used space!
hope this helps

My LaCie external drive isn't getting power
U should test for power at the connector that goes into the lacie with a voltmeter to make sure power supply and its wire are OK. If no voltmeter then use a automobile brake or turn signal bulb to see if it has power.
Drive not recordnized
Hi
please explain more information about your problem.
before any further assistance try to check it on other computers and see if its working or not if yes then take a full backup quickly,
if not then:
try replace the USB/SATA/PATA cable and check if it is working or not.
if yes then take a full backup quickly,
if not then:
1-this is an external drive:
1-1: it use as a normal external HDD for backing up data/movie/music/pics/etc.:
option number 1:try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some software like easeus partition recovery or ...
option number 2:try to format it and then recover its data via recovery applications like easeus or "get data ntfs back" or...
note: in all scenarios you may lost some files or content
1-2 it is used for speed up your computer or has the MBR or EFI boot partition and has an OS installed on it:
try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some softwares like easeus partition recovery or ...
note: in all scenarios you may lost some files or content
2-this is an internal drive:
1-change the SATA/PATA cable
2-check its sectors or clusters via software (windows check disk or windows defragment option) for bad sectors or cluster issues
3-try to fix its partition clusters/sectors with some software like easeus partition recovery or ...
if none of my solution works or software found some bad sectors that could not resolve it then or even you couldn't format the drive then:
maybe it has a hardware fault and there is not much you can do about it by yourself and you should go for warranty service or replacement or asking some expert companies for recovering your data via some special hardware that it may cost you too much.
best regards
Remove write protection lacie disk
How old is the drive and has your set-up always behaved exactly the same way or what's different now, please?
Does this happen only with Word files or what?
Is that LaCie's own Disk Utilities, or what Mac OS are you using which pluralizes that?
I have a 1TB Lacie
I'd suggest to try the device on a different PC. If the issue persists the problem is obviously with the drive itself.
