LaCie, hard drive stopped working.
Hello there,
First of all, i will say you should try another USB cable in connecting the hard drive to your computer. Or you try to connect it to another computer. This time, ensure you try to use a 7.0 USB cable.
Sometimes the cable might be bad and will just connect but not read you hard drive. It happened to a modem of mine. Until i changed the USB cable was when the computer was able to read the modem.
Hope the hard drive did not fall or hit any hard object.
Hope this helped.
Goodluck

Time Machine backup **** can't
this seems silly but make sure u are using a mac compatible harddrive, if not perhaps a corruption while backing up? if in fact the hard drive is mac compatible try reformatting the hard and try backing it up again.
to make sure to check in the external to see if there was even a backup that was written.
My Lacie 500GB External Hardrive
It's not a good sign if a hard disk is making loud clicking noise. It means that the hard drive is about to give up. The clicking sound you can hear is caused
by the arm of the hard disk knocking against other components in the
hard drive. I recommend to back up your data as soon as possible.
Good luck,
Ryan

Hi, My name i Joel
Hi
Boot into your BIOS and change the boot Priority. Make sure the USB boot Device is *after* your primary hard drive. Disconnect the external drive and reboot. Enter the BIOS setup and navigate to the setup priority (or setup order) screen. While some BIOS's will tell the difference, some versions think a USB drive is a CD and will attempt to boot from it if CD is first in boot order (sometimes a manufacturer will leave it first after the machine setup). Make sure the hard drive is first in boot order, save, and then try again.
So first go to the bios and go to the boot tab. Go to device priority and then make sure it is: cd then hard drive then external. Try booting now.To go to the bios when you turn on the computer there will be a black screen with white writing. press del. key while it is on the screen. You may have to repeatedly press it until it comes on. Some motherboards need you to press an " f " key to go to the bios, i think it is f 8. It will say at the bottom of this black screen the key.

Usb drive indicating not formatted
When you plug it in right click on it and then click on either manage or properties, from here you should see a tab that says format, if it doesn't give you the option just from right clicking it....
When you format it, choose NTFS unless you intend on using it on your PS3 for say... xferring movies over then you would want it to be fat32

My Lacie is actually empty,
Go into Disc Utility and use the partition option, change CURRENT, to 1. Also check the options box towards the bottom, they have 3 options depending on how you plan to use the drive. Let me know what happens.
When I connect my lacie
Since you didn't specify the model number, I can only guess that it is a USB model.
Assuming this is the case, your BIOS setup in CMOS memory may have become corrupted. You will have to enter SETUP when you first boot the computer, usually by pressing the Delete key, F2, or something else. When you boot, it usually tells you what you need to do to enter SETUP.
Navigate to the menus for both USB and hard drive configurations and make sure they are set up according to the parameters of your drive. USB must be enabled, and the computer should be able to detect the drive in BIOS, if it has not become corrupted.
Good luck!
WINDOWS 7 DOES NOT OPEN
You cant open the harddrive only the cd/dvd. The harddrive is a physical component inside of your computer that store your files. If you are having a different problem please try to word it different and I can help
Disassemble a La Cie Porsche-design external CD burner case?
I just pulled one apart. You're not going to get it to work unless you pry it apart on the bottom. the parts are stuck together with 2 sided tape. use a thin, flat bladed screwdriver to pop it apart. i did this with relative ease, and it worked alright. didn't trash the plastic too badly either.

Try formatting your Lacie drive into bootable mode. Right click -> Format -> Check "make device bootable" and click start. THis shoudl help.
