Battery b/u squeals after unplugging everything
Hi Robert,The UPS will beep/squeal if the power isn't turned off to it before it is unplugged from the wall. But the other thing that may be causing the noise is a bad battery. Replacement battery price is $26.00.Reply or call if you need more help with this -- 407.380.9200
Don`t charge the battery
Remove the battery, plug in the APC unit but do not turn it on. With a multimeter, place the leads on the proper connectors and turn on the meter and place it on the lowest DC setting to read DC voltage. The DC voltage should read 13.5 DC volts, which means the unit is capable of recharging the battery. If it reads low, for example, 6.44, then there's a problem. On the main board of the APC unit, it is more than likely a faulty capacitor.
APC UPS is totely deat.
You have to take apart the UPS. Inside you will find a battery. On the battery you will find the make and model of the battery. Buy a new battery install it. Plug in UPS and turn it on.
APC 500 beeps all the
It could be over loaded or too hot. Unplug everything and see if it keeps beeping. Or you can reset the logic. to do that turn off the UPS. Unplug from the wall. Disconnect the batteries. Push the on button. The LED's may flash. This is the logic reset. Put it back together and all should be good.
When i start my ups
Plug it in and turn on everything that you normally plug into it. If your UPS has good batteries it should stay online. How old is the UPS?
Backup power ends quickly even with new battery
What is the load on the unit? How old is it?
The symptom can occur if the load is too large. It will also happen when the unit reaches a certain age.
I've found that the low-end consumer UPS's should be replaced when the battery fails. The charging circuitry usually fails to charge the battery even with a new battery soon after the replacement.
The way I check if the battery or the UPS charging system has failed is with a voltmeter to give the current voltage and a variable DC power supply (whatever is appropriate for the battery) to attempt to charge the battery. I can watch the battery discharge with an oscilliscope if I want a full trace of the unit.) Charge the battery fully then watch the unit over time. If the battery itself is bad, you won't get the full charge or it will discharge as soon as it is removed from the power supply.
I hope this helps.

(the server UPS's tend to be a better choice if you want to replace the battery and keep the UPS.)
I'm looking for all manuals that came with a APC
You could try
operatingguides.com
if you need a user manual
or
servicemanuals.co.uk
if you want the schematics etc
We've used them in the past and found them very good.
Also if it is not listed then ask via the link and they
will probably be able to get it for you.
UPS swithed off as soon
The first thing to check is to make sure you plug you PC to the backed up outlet on your UPS.
As far as I remember only 3 out 6 outlets on that UPS are battery backed up. The other 3 are just surge protected.
It's printed on the UPS panel.
Hope this will help you
I think my apc battery
Sir some details required to solve your ups problem.
1.What is the current back up time and load?(if the ups giving back up)
2.Is the amber light glowing at the time of switch on the ups?
I have APC be500 ups,
Going down the line. Does it have power? Do you use the powershoot program? Plug in the cable to the unit and what does current status say? if it says nothing, you probably dont have power or the unit is toast. If it says the line voltage is low or high, check it and if its really ok, there a number of parts that check the line and using another unit will probably tell which one. APC wont sell you parts or a schematic. So if you are not a excellant tech, send it in for about 40 bucks to get it refurbed or by a new one.
Hi,do I have to keep my ups plugged to a wall socke all the time?
hi,
the unit needs to be plugged in all the time. the unit is or should be fully automatic. higher priced units have a usb cord so you can check their status right on the computer, does your ups have a usb outlet? you might want to take it up to a computer store and buy a usb cable and then you can control your UPS with your computer. manually turning the UPS on and off shouldnt hurt anything.
good luck

Ups not giving back up
How old is this UPS? Is power failure frequent? Anyway I think you batteries will be gone faulty. You may have to replace them.
