To install the cartridges, please follow the steps given below:
1. Press "Setup" until "Cartridge" appears on the display.
2. Press the "Right arrow" button until "Change cartridge" appears on the second row of the display.
3. Press "Enter/Select." Now you may install the cartridges in the cartridge carrier.
4. Press "Right arrow" to select the color cartridge type that you installed, once "Left Cartridge?" appears on the display.
5. Press "Enter/Select."
6. Press "Right arrow" to select the black cartridge type that you installed, once "Right Cartridge?" appears in the display.
7. Press "Enter/Select."
An alignment test page should print if "New Cartridge" is selected.

Just 2 possible causes:
1 - you bought the wrong cartridge: either it's the wrong model or it's not a genuine one - fake ones have very bad chips that fail easily; buy the correct cartridge.
2 - the cartridge isn't properly installed or the contacts on its back aren't connected properly to the carriage; take it out, clean the contacts and the pins from the carriage and make sure they are in good condition.

Download the drivers from Lexmark here. That's all you need to get it working.

Be sure to have the printer unplugged from your computer until all the drivers have been loaded. You should get a message advising you when to plug in the USB cable.

A web page will open, follow instructions, select model, select operative system etc., and click on download .
Chose to download the file in my documents when asked.
After downloading, find the file,double click on the file ,then if you get in troubles, follow the instructions below to reset and reinstall drivers:

• Unplug printer USB.
• Go to control panel >> installed printers in Windows and remove (delete ) any installed printer from printer list.
• Download driver from website, or use the disk and run the install file.
  
• Follow driver installation wizard.
• Plug back printer when prompted from installation wizard.

Note:some printerdoes not work on Vista, if you do not find any driver download for Vista on your model page, that means your model is not Vista compatible.
