all you have to do is to open where you put ink and look into it to see if anything is there. If not then take out the catridge and clean it and roll those mechanism and insat the catradge or ink back and try printing again.

Connect the printer with your PC and install the driver from the disk provide by vendor and follow the on screen instruction.

Sometimes the ink cartridge carrier won't automatically move to its loading position even when the printer is on and the cover is open. Just unplug the printer from the power source. With the cover open, hold the solid white strip and gently slide the cartridge carrier to the center of the printer. Remove the used cartridges. Load the new cartridges. Close the cover. Plug the printer back to the power source.

1203 error indicates a defective cartridge is detected. It would be best not to use your burnt black cartridge anymore to prevent further damage to the printer. Try to replace it with a new genuine cartridge. However, if error continues even with a new cartridge, please contact Lexmark technical support for additional assistance. Thanks.

The printer requires to be plugged into the power source with the power cord connected to its power adapter to function. Please contact Lexmark technical support for assistance if you lost the cord or the adapter. Thanks.

YES only need ink to print

It sounds like you need to reinstall your drivers. Click the download drivers button on THIS page and reinstall them. Hope this helps =]

Hello,

1.Disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer.

2. Hold down the Stop/Clear button. (To the right of the Black Copy button.)

3.While keeping the button pressed down, reconnect the power cable. A message on the LCD will display MEMORY CLEARING.
Note: The Fax, Copy and Scan buttons will remain ON until the message disappears. Only the Fax button should be ON when the function is complete.

You can adjust the quality and darkness on the front panel
Depending on the type of document you are trying to copy:
Select the type to one of the following.

CONTENT TYPE

Specify the type of document in the ADF:

• Text and graphic (default)
• Photo
• Text only
• Line drawing

If that does not produce the quality desired, try adjusting the Lightness / Darkness setting.


If the problem is with all copies, the optical scanner may need cleaning.

Improving print quality If you are not satisfied with the print quality of your document, make sure you:

• Use the appropriate paper for the document.
• Use paper that is a heavier weight, bright white, or coated.
• Select a higher print quality:

1. From your software program, click File Print.

The Print dialog box appears.

1. From the Print dialog box, click Properties, Preferences, Options, or Setup.
2. From the Quality/Speed area, select Better or Best.

Cleaning the scan lens and white roller If you notice poor image quality in scans, faxes, or copies, you may need to clean the scan lens and the white roller.

1. Unplug the power cord and the phone line from the wall.
2. Open the control panel.
3. Pull the roller lever forward, and then lift the white roller out of the All-In-One.

Note: The scan lens is located under the white roller.

1. Use a clean, lint-free cloth dampened with water to wipe the white roller and the scan lens.
2. Reinstall the white roller.
3. Reconnect the power cord and the phone line.

If you downloaded the driver for the x4200 series then that is alright. But to make sure redownload the driver and reinstall it. After that unplug the USB connector to your computer and then restart the computer. Wait until you have gone into windows and logged in before plugging back the usb connector. Wait for windows to acknowledge the connection by showing an installing device message or by a series of tones. Check on your printer devices if your printer is online. Try printing a test page. If you are still getting a problem make sure to jot down the error message you are getting and get back to us here at fixya.

error 1203 is cartridge error, cartridges has a short
1. press power button to turn off your printer
2. unplug your printer to the wall outlet
3. plug in your all in one
4. reinstall your cartridges
if this does not resolve the problem replace your cartridges with new one
for more trouble shooting option :
1. click start> program> lexmark 4200 series> lexmark solution center
2. click the trouble shooting tab on the left side of the screen
