Can I connect this device to my sky 4 port router

What you need to decide first is that how do you want your network to be setup.
  1. You can make one Master Router and another Slave router.
  2. You can disable the DHCP server of one router and make it as a switch.
If you have any doubts, you may chat with some tech at this link.

How do I restore to

Turn the router off.
Take a Norwegian paper-clip, and straighten one end.
Insert that end into the small hole in the back of the router.
Push it in, until you feel resistance.
Firmly push another 2 mm (1/10 inch) against the resistance.
This will "reset" the router.
Turn the router on.
Reconfigure it.

My internet connection became slower

It could be a conflict.. but the main thing is there really is no reason to have a 3rd party firewall installed on windows, it has it's own firewall, then you have the firewall built in to the router, all mcafee's firewall is doing for you is taking up resources and potentially causing conflicts.
I would remove that firewall and see if that helps, if not, reset the router to factory defaults (there should be a reset button on the router) and configure it again, possible that it was not set up correctly or got corrupted somehow.
With the introduction of Windows 98 SE Service Pack 2, there is no reason to have another firewall installed.
Hope this helps

My belkin router keeps saying

If you did not change the password then there is no way to find where it is. Just reset your Belkin Router so the password will be deleted. To reset it, look for the reset button (a small button, you need a sharp object like a pin) and press it for about 15 seconds. It is usually found beside the slot for the modem.

Intermittent week wireless signal

Sign in to the router and make sure the transmit and recieve power is turned to 100%. Also, make sure your wireless card is at 100% power too. If you are just using your computer for basic internet use, remove all protocalls except tcp/ip. To do that, open the control panel, open the network and sharing center, on the left, click change adapter settings. then right click on your wireless card and click properties. the protocalls are the ones with the little slver and gold icon next to them. Not the ones with the little computer icons. remove all except tcp/ip version 4 and tcp/ip version 6. Also check the placement of your routher and if its still doing it. change the channel that the routher is on. channels 1 and 6 work best.

I have a wireless printer

Setting up wireless printers can be such a hassle!
The quickest solution is to let the router sync the mac address itself, don't worry about the details of it all. Easiest way is to start wired, before you go wireless.
When setting up the printer to work with that wireless router, hook your printer up directly to the router/computer the router is connected to. This will allow for the printer/router to recognize each other and establish a connection. Then, when you use a wireless connection (wireless on laptop/ on printer also), they will recognize each other and you'll be able to connect.
This is much less of a hassle than trying to set up wirelessly.
Best of luck!

My router keeps diconnecting me

Did it work normally before? What happened since it worked normally? Besides restarting modem and then the router, It might be a good idea to login the admin web page of the router and take note of all the configuration and then reset your router by pressing the reset key which is hidden in a small hole somewhere on your router. Then try it again. Sometimes there might have been a problem with the port so switching port may work. Take a look at the MTU settings. The optimum settings of MTU will make your Internet connection work better. The number of optimum MTU for your router can be found on Internet. Did you have an expired Antivirus which may block you from accessing Internet? Sometimes some network service will cause some problem for your modem to use its IP address so it may be a good idea to perform a system restore to the date when it worked normally if possible.

Hi, i have a belkin54g

Go into your network connection properties spydrt_7.jpg

Make sure they are set to automatically obtain IP addresses.
spydrt.gif

Then go to the command prompt and type in ipconfig
spydrt.png

The default gateway will be the address that you need to type in the browser to bring up the router interface. If nothing happens after that, you may need to reset your router defaults by doing a hard reset on the router.

The "Reset" button is used in rare cases when the WAP may function
improperly. Resetting the WAP will restore the WAP's normal operation while
maintaining the programmed settings. You can also restore the factory default
settings by using the Reset button. Use the restore option in instances where
you may have forgotten your custom password.

a. Resetting the WAP
Push and release the Reset button. The lights on the WAP will
momentarily flash. The Power/Ready light will begin to blink. When the
Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the reset is complete.

b. Restoring the Factory Defaults
Press and hold the Reset button for five seconds then release it. The
lights on the WAP will momentarily flash. The Power/Ready light will
begin to blink. When the Power/Ready light becomes solid again, the
restore is complete.

Unlok

The easiest way to go about this, since you don't know exactly how it's setup, would be simply just to reset it by holding the reset button on the back for something like 30 seconds. That will reset it to factory, thus opening the router for access without any security in place.

Before you do that you should make a backup of the current configuration (can be done within the router) and you should take note of the WAN (especially your login method), LAN, and Wireless configurations assuming you have a simple setup as most people do.

To setup the router to connect to the net you'd need to know your login method (usually PPPoE), Login user name and password associated with your internet account from your provider and set your connection behavior to "keep alive".

Next make sure your wireless radio is enabled and set your SSID to what ever you want like "My Router" and enable the broadcast SSID. To secure your wireless network simply set your router to WEP 64 bit and set your pass phrase and use key 1.

And of course if you need to access the internet from your iPod by wireless, you'd need to enter that key 1 into your iPod and any other wireless devices.

If you have any trouble try power cycling your modem by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

Just go into your router and you'll see what I'm talking about.

I have an HP laptop

1. You possibly may have the IP address that need to be "renewed.
2. Go to the control panel then to network then check the properties of the TCP/IP protocol properties to see if you have it set to "obtain an ip automatically"
also see if you have " DNS to obtain automatically".
3.Unplug the Ethernet cord for about 30 seconds the connect it back to the Ethernet port.
4. check to see if you have a connection to the internet.
5. call your ISP to see if you line has had any disconnects or maintenance.
6. check the router status ( this will tell you if you have disconnected from the ISP 's server and need a possible reset .
7. Do a ipconfig /all to see if you have the "media disconnect" error > this is done by going to the command prompt and typing "cmd" enter then you DOS prompt will show.
8. check you status lights on the router to give this information to the tech when calling your ISP to walk you through a reset or check the connection on the DSL/ CABLE line.
I hope this helps. Have a great day!
