BELKIN UPS DOES NOT WORK

If the device is over a few years old, then the batteries are probably dead. If so, they can be replaced. Below link shows some photos of the device once opened. http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1092&page=2

How long do batteries last

If they cannot hold the charge or do not charge then get rid of the thing and get a new one. Should be much cheaper than when you bought the one you have now.

I recently purchased a used Belkin F6C800-UNV UPS,

This is normal in some lower end UPS's, the voltage can swing quite a bit, a drop of 40 seems like quite a bit but it's out of the question. It will also adapt to what is plugged in yes. Ultimately to test you would want to try it with something like an actual PC plugged in and make sure it stays running. I'd say otherwise it sounds normal to me.

I had a mains supply failure to my house bout two

Forgive me if this seems too simple, but there is a circuit breaker button on the back of the unit. Did you press that button back in to make sure that there was not a surge or something that could have knocked it out?
Good luck!

I have a F6C800 and

OK - I'll ask the simple question first, so don't think I'm being crappy...
When you hooked the wires back up to the batteries that were replaced, did you hook them back up as they originally were? (I ran into this problem myself earlier today. I put one of the batteries in upside down and didn't have them hooked up correctly.)
Red terminal on the front battery goes to the black terminal on the back battery, then the black terminal on the first battery goes to the circuit board. Red terminal on the back battery goes to the power supply.
Hope that helps. It sure is a pain the change these batteries out.

How do i connect my

Connect your PC power plug to the UPS, connect the UPS to the mains. Connect the usb lead from the UPS to your PC. Install the software on your PC. When you lose mains power the UPS will keep your PC alive long enough for an ordered shutdown.
I hope I have been of help but please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.

Doesnt work anymore- when connected

Yes they do, around the age you are at is the design life of this type of battery pack, check with your dealer or there should be info re service in your manual .

Batteries are always live, and are very dangerous, so unless you know what you are doing do not try this yourself. If you get it wrong you will be buying a new UPS.

Hope this helps

Belkin UPS F6C800 Problem

Hello,

My name is Vikram Kumar Thumu, from India-Hyderabad. I have seen your message on the issue related to Shutdown of UPS whenever there is a Power Surge. I would like to provide my suggestions on the issue. I hope that this should work for you and will resolve the issue.

I see that you are using

Generally, the issue happens if you are not using the UPS as per Manufacturer specifications or if it is overloaded frequently then UPS  shutdowns

To isolate the issue, I recommend you to check and go through below information.

If you see ON BATTERY a Yellow LED OR Flashing Yellow
LED with Audible Alarm (Beeping) then it means this condition for the On-Battery LED can indicate 1of 2 problems: They are:

1. The UPS is on battery backup and an intermittent audible alarm is on. The UPS will begin shutdown procedure.

2. Battery is low. The UPS will sta rt shut down. The buzzer sounds an audible alarm .

if you see a Solid Red on your UPS , then it means that UPS is either fault or overload.  It happens if there is a issue with UPS. The LED will be lit continuously and the unit will sound an audiable alarm for 10 seconds. Other cause could be with Battery is weak or Bad, the Battery needs to be replaced under this condition.

If you use a Flashing Red LED, then it means that battery is trying to give more power than it should. It happens then UPS is overloaded.

Let me tell you,,,,

Only data sensitive equipment such as a computer, monitor and external drive should be plugged into these outlets. Battery power is automatically

provided in case of a power outage. Power (AC or battery) is not supplied to these outlets when the UPS is switched off. (Do not plug surge protectors or power strips into the battery back up outlets).  Most Important factor that effects the issue is that,

Caution: Never connect a laser printer or scanner to the backup outlets of UPS with other computer equipment. A laser printer or scanner draws significantly more power when in use than when idle. This may overload the UPS.

And caused the UPS to shutdown whenever there is Power Surge To isolate the issue further, let me tell you the way where you can test the UPS if it is fine or not. 1. Charge the UPS for around 4 hours, and try below steps.

To Conduct a Self Test

Use the self-test to verify both the operation of the UPS and the condition of the battery. In normal utility power, push the On/Off/Test

button less than 2 seconds and the UPS performs a self-test function. During the self-test, the UPS operates in back-up mode.

Note! During the self-test, the UPS briefly operates on- battery backup power (the on-battery LED comes on). If the UPS passes

the self -test, it returns to on-line operation. If the UPS fails the self-test, it immediately returns to on-line operation and lights the replace battery LED. The loads are not affected. Recharge the battery overnight and perform the self- test again. If the replace battery LED is still on, the battery will need to replaced.

This should resolve the issue for you.

If you need any further assistance on the issue, you can mail me at [email protected] . I'll be glad to help you.

Bye.

What are the thing we need to understand before

i_mafaz, You need to know what you want the UPS to do for you and for how long you will require it to supply power to all your equiptment. If you can surf over to www.apc.com they have all the info you need to calculate the size (kva) your UPS will need to be to allow you time to shutdown your system when a power failure occurs. 12fixlouie

Belkin 1500va (uses 2 - 12v 7ah batteries)

check out this picture, it shows the 2 batteries wired up.

Notice that the batteries are flipped opposite of each other.
So from left to right its: bottom red, bottom black, top black, top red

http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1092&page=2

Between the 2 batteries there is 1 red to black connection.
Then black to black-wire to circuit board
and red to red-wire to circuit board.

Trouble shooting UPS

Sounds like you have a cold solder joint somewhere on the PC board.

I would pull the PC board off......before you do that. May I suggest you take a digital picture of it before you take it off so you know where all the wires go. Flip it over and touch a hot solder iron over verious areas you might suspect that you have exposed or cracked joints.

The monitor goes into power save mode and the ups disconnect

It should work, make sure each profile is set the same way. Keep in mind you should still be able to utilize your standby feature, and your screensaver as well.
