L/ front audio out not working fully. pre amp
The left channel output in the amplifier stage is going out - could be a cold solder connection due to overheating. Check the left channel output of the power transistors solder trace - you can compare them to the right channel stage because they're almost identical circuits.
Fiber optics input not working
you will likely have to access the harmon kardon setup menu and direct the fiber input you are using toward the video or audio source selection which is being utilized along with it
Trying to connect HK Sig
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Offhand, if I understand correctly, your intention is to add another amplifier with its own speaker set to the existing AV Receiver and its own speakers. If yes, then none of the "...
inputs on back of AVR 7000..." would be used but rather the OUTs.
Proposed connections would be (
using RCA to RCA cables):
- CHANNEL 1 IN of HK Sig Series 2.1 from MAIN OUT R of HK AVR7000;
- CHANNEL 5 IN of HK Sig Series 2.1 from MAIN OUT L of HK AVR7000;
- CHANNEL 2 IN of HK Sig Series 2.1 from SURROUND OUT R of HK AVR7000;
- CHANNEL 4 IN of HK Sig Series 2.1 from SURROUND OUT L of HK AVR7000;
- CHANNEL 3 IN of HK Sig Series 2.1 from CENTER OUT of HK AVR7000.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYA.
No audio from Harman Kardon AVR 7000
Incorrect polarity between receiver and speaker will not damage receiver however unmatched impedance speakers can damage amplifier section of receiver.
Please check connection cables in receiver and if receiver does not shut off in protection mode then it could be connection cable broken or some dry / cold solder joints on circuit boards in receiver.
Re-soldering of cold solder joints is job of qualified tech.
