K8N NEO4

cpu casing? What is that? To test the power supply, just use a paper clip in the ATX connector on the green wire, and the black wire next to it. Make sure everything that is hooked up to the power plugs, is unplugged. That should tell you if its the power supply.

Do you have the K8N-Neo4 motherboard? MS-7125 is the intern p/n for the K8N

If so, try this address, these are the most recent drivers for the motherboard.

Powers on but no post or any video

Hello!

You say the motherboard was left for a month. Was it plugged to a wall outlet during the time?

There are 2 solutions that I can think of:

1. Unplug the motherboard from the PSU, take out the CMOS battery out and leave it for ~30min,
then take everything back together including the video card (don't forget to plug any additional power cables into the video card), see if it works
2. Some of the neo4 boards have a rather serious problem with draining the CMOS battery very fast for no apparent reason, if you have a multimeter check the battery voltage if it's off by more than 0.2V it needs replacing, you can buy these batteries at any decent electronics or hardware store (or you can take one from another PC for a quick test ;)

Hope this help!

Hooking my Neo4 mobo back up.

Hi weeman105, case wire colors do vary from case to case. The most common case wire colors for negative are "white & black". All other colors like blue, green, red orange are most commonly "positive". The four pin connector with only the ends with wires is the internal speaker. Most boards use one set of pins where you hook everything up. The MSI K8N Neo4-F uses two separate motherboard pins, Front Panel Connectors: JFP1 & JFP2 as shown on the top page 2-19. Now that you know what color is positive & which is negative things should work out just fine.
Downloaded manual from MSI link: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=4117&type=manual
If you run into any other troubles, just post & we'll go from there.

Good luck weeman105!

Ethernet controller

Hello there.

It sounds like at first guess, you do not have the necessary drivers installed. Your ethernet card is not supported by Windows unless you install the driver. You can verify this by right clicking "My Computer" then clicking "Properties" then clicking the
"Hardware" tab and finally "Device Manager". Notice if there are any devices not currently installed.

Please click here to see the webpage with the drivers. Your ethernet uses NVIDIA nForce4 System Drivers so thats the one to click.

Notice there are other drivers on the website too. For example sound.

Hope this helps.

K8N Neo4 and Vista

It usually means that there is a piece of hardware or a program that it is having trouble closing. Try defragging the drive some times that can help things quite a bit. Also make sure you have the latest drivers fro all your hardware.

ESD

It looks like you really have tried everything so bare with me if I say something you already tried.
If you mentionned all the components of your systems, I calculated that you need a 400W power supply (your system only consume about 330W but you need headroom so 400W is about right) Make sure your power supply is good, I'm saying that because I had the exact same problem with one of my motherboards and it was the power supply that looked OK but was indeed bad. If your components are starving for power or the voltages are unstable it will reboot.
ESD stands for Electrostatic discharge and would have happened when manipulating your components, if you were not grounded (best way to ground yourself is to leave the plug in the PSU but turn OFF your PSU at the power switch behind the power supply, that way your case will still be grounded) The fact that you did mention that your motherboard was tested OK and so was your processor is puzzling.
An other thing that may seems obvious but I'll ask anyways, did you put thermal paste on the processor and made sure the heatsink is seated right? Check in your BIOS all the health data, voltages, temperature and fan speed. Make sure all your voltages are within range ~3% for good stability.
An other thing is your graphics card could bring your whole system down, it happens. It usually is power supply related but I wish you had a basic graphics card to plug in to test your system stability.
This is just my 2 cents, I know most people will not answer you because they are scared you will bring their rating down, but hey, most of the time I get bad rating even if i answer right on the money so I don't care anymore. Let me know what happens, I'd be curious to know what the problem was.

Annoying digital audio output in windows vista

You probably just need to update the audio drivers for that MB to use with Vista.

And it just so happens that MSI's download page for that motherboard has only 1 updated driver for the Vista OS, and that driver update is Vista_Realtek_AC97.zip

Hope that helps, and if it does, please remember to rate this solution!

Integrated Sound

Hi ZeroCool2u,

I think you just sold me ;~) *drools with envy*

Getting to your question, your MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard is 7.1 compatible, so you shouldn't have any trouble hooking up your new headset.

You'll have to configure your setup within MSI DigiCell first though. from the manual, it looks like it will give you a colour code telling you which jack is which, when you select 5.1 from the "speaker mode" section.

now, going by this picture I found of your headset, the analog audio connectors you have are on an adapter, and colour coded. They are as follows:

Green plug- your front two channels.

Black plug- Your back two channels

Yellow plug: Center channel/sub

Pink plug- Microphone

so, plug these in using this as a guide, and you should be good to go. I'm unsure if you need to plug in the USB connector along with the rest of them, or if it's just there if you want the headphones to do all the rendering instead of the soundcard, so you might want to test the headset without it plugged in, initially, or refer to the users' guide.

although personally, I'd reccommend investing in a dedicated soundcard anyways- Integrated sound systems take away resources from the Processor and RAM, something which you want as little as you can of when you're a gamer trying to make the best out of your system. I'd reccommend any of the creative X-Fi series, for their overall sound quality.
