How can I open the back of a canon AE-1 camera if

You can open the back by pulling up on the rewind lever - but if there's film it'll be ruined since you apparently have no way to rewind it.

If you intend to use this camera, I'd spend the money to get it repaired. If not, ebay it off to someone who will, as it's useless in his condition.

How do I unload or rewind the film

Not All camera do it the same way.
Some have an electric rewind - usually those that automatically advance the film after each picture. They will have a catch somewhere that lets you open the back - it's normally at the right hand side (as you look at the back) or.. Cameras that you advance the film with a lever under your right thumb usually have a rewind crank at the left hand end of the camera . Generally it is on the top folded into the round thing but sometimes it is on the bottom in a matching place. You unfold the crank so that you can wind the film back into its can. However, You must first operate a little button that will be located in a small recess on the base of the camera - this disengages the wind-on machanism inside the camera so that the film can go the other way. Normally you have to keep this pressed all the time you are winding.
When the film is all in the can you will feel the wind ease off and the noise will change . now you can open the camera. Again this is done in different ways on different cameras, but the commonest is to take the winding crank and pull it upwards as if you are trying to pull it out of the top of the camera. It will come so far than suddenly the back will release and open a short way.
Some cameras have a slider hidden at the right hand end on the side, that looks like a small silver bar that you pull down with your thumb-nail.

Hi I have a Canon

Hi Carolyn. There could be several reasons for locked card. 1. pin on side of the SD card must be in UP position, not DOWN2. Reformat your card via computer to FAT323. Card reader inside camera has one "little piece" inside for monitoring if the pin on SD card is pulled down or not. If this "little piece" is bent or broken, your camera could mean that SD card is locked. In this case easiest way is to return camera back to shop. Or if you like, disassembly camera, but you will lost your warranty.

Replacing battery cover door on Canon AL-1

Very easy to replace door. Remove base plate (3 screws). Remove 1 screw found in battery compartment. Lift corner of battery compartment (right where you took the screw out) up about 1/4". No more or you will break the opposite corner. Use a piece of picture hanging wire and push the hinge pin from the outside toward the inside until you can grab it with tweezers and pull it right out. Rest is simple.

Film unable to advance Shutter unable to

Sorry, this isn't enough information. What camera body do you have? on some models, the "lock-up" was an indicator that the battery was too low to meter properly. In an effort to keep you from taking improperly exposed photos, the manufacturer buil;t this in as a "safety feature. If your camera has a manual mode or a "B" setting, try those and if the mirror flips down, check your battery.

How can i turn on my camera? what is the problem

FIRST YOU NEED TO DETERMINE WHICH MODEL CANON R.F. BODY YOU HAVE. THEN I WOULD SUGGEST A TRAINED PROFESSIONAL TO HANDLE THIS REPAIR. SOME OF THE INTERNAL COMPONENTS WERE ACTUALLY HAND-CRAFTED WHEN THESE CAMERAS WERE MANUFACTURED 60 YEARS AGO, AND NONE BUT A TRAINED ONE COULD HANDLE THIS.

I've just loaded the film into my Canon A-1, and I

What has probably happened is that you have not yet engaged the sprockets into the sprocket holes in the film. Open the back and make sure the film is being pulled by the take up spool under the wind on lever until both top and bottom sprockets are engaged. If there are any torn sprocket holes in the film, cut the damaged film off, cut a new lead in section to half film width, and try again. You will lose a few shots, but the rest of the film will be fine. Shutter won't start working until the film is properly advanced. If you need to get damaged film off the take up spool just press the film return button, the one you would press the rewind the film into the can at the end of the film. It is on the bottom under the sprocket shaft.

I have a Canon AE

As the mirror moves up out of the way when a photo is taken this will have no effect on your pictures. The amount of dirt that you describe does seem to indicate that the camera is very dirty. You should clean it carefully, use no oil, anywhere, get all the dust and particles you can out of the camera. If there is dirt in the film transport area this will probably scratch the film as you wind on each time. The only dirt that will come out on the photos is any that is on the film when the photo is taken; these will be different each photo, or any on the back of the lens; these will be the same on each photo, but different for a different lens. Cleaning "the black part" from the lens side... this is actually the shutter itself, and is made from very thin metal. If you have bent or damaged this when cleaning it, you will have probably scrapped the camera. This can be changed, but only really by a repair shop. Again, dirt on this, either side, will not appear on photos, but might fall onto the film during exposure, leaving under exposed dust marks. Shutter blades can get tangled up, and not work nicely, not close properly. Try pressing the shutter with the back open and the lens off, looking through and see if there are any light leaks when the shutter is supposed to be closed.

Sure shot tele quartz date,,

There are two screws you will need to remove. They are near where the strap connects to the body, (on the side with the red shutter button). They each have a small arrow pointing to them. Remove these screws and then the cover and you will see the battery.

The battery light is flashing on my EOS Canon

I would suspect the battery is low on power, camera batteries can be checked for sufficient power at a local camera stores. Most camera stores have a meter that checks the battery capacity. You may just need a replacement battery.
