When I switch on it automatically keeps taking images and won't stop.

Sounds as though moisture is closing the shutter release contact or has damaged it. You can try wrapping the camera in a clean, paper bag without the lens and battery and open the battery and memory card door as well as the other covers. Then place the bag in a large bowl or box of clean, dry, uncooked white rice, completely covering it, for at least a week to draw moisture out of the camera. You can also use a commercially available moisture desiccant but they're more expensive and the rice works pretty well. If that doesn't help send the camera in for repair as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the more damage can be done by trapped moisture.

Flashing message

The message flashing on the camera is "EXP SIM", which indicates that the lighting conditions for the current shot are not optimal for displaying an image on the back screen and the screen is showing an EXPosure SIMulation of what the final picture -should- look like based on the camera's best guess.

When I try to shoot in Auto it comes up Error 5. The flash will not raise. It says to turn it off and try again, but I have to no avail. Any suggestions?

EOS Error five is usually something physical that has the flash array held shut. There is a small plastic lever on the left top side of the flash flap box that holds it shut. Turn the mode selector to P Tv or Av then press the flash button (marked by a jagged lightning bolt sign) which will release that spring. This should release it - a little clean with a dry brush should help it work correctly thereafter.

Adapter ring pentax pk praktica pk

Be aware when you buy adaptor rings for lenses for your Canon, most of the time you only can use these lenses in manual mode. That is manual focus, but you also have to chose the other settings by hand too. Canon has some cheap lenses, that perform very good, when you look for what they cost. To be sure about your ring, just buy the ring for the correct brand.

Parts praktica bc1

The praktica BC1 camera uses a bayonet mount described as PK. You need to search on ebay for "PK to EF adaptor". You will get plenty of results. Make your choice depending on whether you want focus confirm or not.

When I switch on it automatically keeps taking images and won't stop.

First reaction is always take out the battery. Check if the shutter release button is not stuck in a down position. Press and here of her is a little click. After you are sure the shutter release button is not stuck, place the battery and try again. If it starts all over again taking pictures, and you are sure you don't have a ir remote control near bye, then you should contact the nearest Canon service centre.

Do you have a spare battery? If so does it do the same thing? Batteries typically only last a couple of years and then they need to be replaced.
