If your camera is the type that uses SD cards, then your problem is that the camera was developed in 2004 before SDHC cards were invented. Your camera cannot use them.

Canon ixus 500 Lcd screen

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). They may also include free shipping both ways (free shipping varies with countries). This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please see this link for more info.

Computer doesn't reconize camera. Till

It's very difficult to troubleshoot software problems online, and it likely is a software issue. But why put up with the headaches of bad software in the first place? Please see this article, as it describes the use of a USB card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. Note that card readers are also VERY inexpensive these days (some places less than $2 online with shipping). Just make sure that in your search that you find one that's stated capable of reading the CF card for your camera (many are just SD/SDHC, but good CF card readers do exist. Here's one example from Amazon).

I can't get photos to upload from my Canon S500.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program, such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

I have the PS S500.

is the screen displaying anything at all? if not have you tried looking into the viewfinder? occasionally cameras with viewfinders will display pictures on in the viewfinder and not the screen.
Try taking a photo and then check to see if the photo is there on a computer.
other than this, the camera unit inside the camera may have become damaged or detached, it this is the case, unfortunately, there is nothing you can do

I dropped the camers and

Anything can be fixed but at this point the cost of repair would exceed the value of a new camera. If this camera were in Canada the shipping and repair estimate would cost you $100.00 Canadian.

Add the cost of repair less the estimate and you most probably are looking at about $160.00 Canadian.

Short answer most often after a drop like this and the lens gets stuck it's not worth fixing them.

Computer will not recognize camera and is not in

You should not need special software to access this camera on your computer. Make sure the cables are plugged in firmly to both the camera and the computer. Be sure to turn the camera on, then try to access the files on the camera like you would the files on a flash drive.
Alternatively, if you have a fairly new laptop or desktop computer, you may have a card reader installed that can read the CF memory cards from your camera.
If you don't have a card reader installed on your machine, I would recommend getting an inexpensive card reader from a local computer retailer. They sell ones that can read many different kinds of cards, so make sure you get one that can read the type of memory cards that came with your camera. These types of readers are easy to use and are used by most professional photographers, as it is safer to use these than to always be plugging in your camera.
You can find them for between $12 - $25 at most computer stores.

Check your settings for "white balance". Unless you know what you're doing, set it to automatic. If you can't find the setting, comment back and I'll find it for you. (On my SD600 it's under Func, and then look for "AWB" instead of a cloud, or a sun or whatever)

Memory card error

Put off the card from your camera, then try to put on again properly and turn on your camera.
If the problem persist, take the memory card in a card reader and plug to your PC, if the PC still recognize it then the memory card still reliable. But if even the PC don't recognize it, I suggest you to buy the new card for your camera.

Hope this help and be kind to rate this answer please.

I have a Canon Ixus 95015 but I have mis-placed

You can find a new charger by searching for your camera's model number (add the word "charger") on Amazon, but it might be better to get one of the "universal" chargers instead. There are several makes of these, that will charge any of the small lithium batteries used in cameras and phones, so you won't have this problem again. And the universal chargers are often cheaper than the ones dedicated to a single battery type.

If your camera came with a charger for the battery, then it is unlikely that it will charge from the USB lead.
