Hi, Try this trick to get around Microsofts silly habits. [We all have come across them somewhere] Open "my documents" create a new file, name it to suit your video, plug your camera/player in and run the video into the created file. Then simply send the file as an attachment in an email. Ensure you tell the person you send it to exactly which program you used, so when they open it window's does not get confused. This can be done from MS PowerPoint/ MS Office and several others. Goodluck. mistyman

Clearly the dvd unit is reading the discs and processing the data ok for it to record on the tape without problem, therefore the problem is either the interface between the tv and the player or a mismatch of signal or signal type between the tv and player.

I am wondering if you have tried a different tv, in particular one of a similar vintage to the player?
How are you connecting the unit and the tv? The usual way and the best way is using a scart lead but the scart system that takes a good analogue signal straight into the sound and video sections of the tv has been going out of fashion for a couple of decades and modern tv sets are accepting only digital inputs, rendering a great deal of useful older equipment useless.

Digital to analogue and analogue to digital converters are available at many prices but I don't know how successful they are.

You go to the manufacturer's website. So go to and upload the firmware update onto a USB stick. Then plug the USB into the Tv and the firmware update should run.

What make of TV is it? Most televisions will have a small set of buttons on the side or edge of the Tv.

Which TV do you have? Your TV might have an 'Optical' audio out. You'll need a specialist cable to do this. These cables are usually cheap to buy and easy to get a hold of. Connect the cable to the 'Optical' Out on the back of the TV and the other end into the 'OPT' port in the back of the sound bar. This should mean you can use the HDMi port for your firestick.
The cable's plug only fits in one way around so be careful fitting it. Your sound-bar might have a small protector peg in the hole you'll need to remove first.
Usually, any sound played through the TV will play through the optical cable so it will play through the sound-bar.

The following Astron LED 32 TV was advertised with built-in Netflix capability.

Changes in Netflix rendered current software versions incompatible with older sets. And here is a reference regard some 2010-2011 Samsungs being incompatible:

If your Astron's support is unavailable, an alternative is to try casting from your mobile device to the TV.

First check that the source or input is set to TV (RF) port. Some TVs only have the Source/Input button on the original remote. Others have one among the front panel buttons. If this button isn't on the TV itself and you have an universal remote, you may need to try multiple codes to get the Input/Source button to work properly. Getting the power button to work is often easier.

I hope this helps. Every TV that I've used only displayed the Channel Search when the input was TV. It could be in a Setup menu, under Initial Settings or a Channel menu. Please add a comment with the make and model of the TV for more information on where to find the Input/Source button and the Menu location to for searching for channels. (Note: there was a brief period of HD monitors that were sold as HD-ready TVs. However these units didn't have a tuner. They were meant to be used with a set-top (satellite dish receiver, cable) box.)

First, make sure that the source is set to TV. (Use the TV button at the top left of the remote to ensure that the TV is being controlled by the remote. The Source button is the one to the right of the Power button on the remote. It's the top button on the side of the TV. ) Next press Menu. (On the remote, it's the button to the upper left of the arrow keys. It's the second button from the top on the TV side panel.) Use the Up/Down arrow keys to navigate to Channel. Press Enter. (Note: the channel buttons at the bottom of the side panel buttons match the Up/Down arrows of the remote. The Source button on the TV is the Enter key.) Press Enter again and use the Up/Down arrow keys to highlight your country. Press Enter. Navigate to Auto Store and press Enter twice. Wait for the TV to go through the channels and test for signal.

You can also add channels manually by using the Manual Store option. If you know the channel number, you would then choose Channel and select C (over-the-air) or S (cable) and then the Right arrow key. Use the arrow keys to highlight the desired channel. Press Enter. Use the arrow keys to select Store and press Enter again. Otherwise choose Search. Use the Up/Down arrows to select a channel. Press Enter, go to Store and press Enter again. Repeat this for each channel.

The manual for the LE26R73BD is available on the support page: . The current link to the manual is

I hope this helps. If you use a set top box with a non-RF coaxial cable output to the TV, the channel option will not be available.

A modern digital tv is as much computer as tv and consequently has much circuitry that is highly vulnerable to voltage surges and transients and while the sort of surge protector you use with your computer would offer some protection from mains borne nasties, if an outside antenna is used an additional pathway for damage is provided that is impossible to protect from short of disconnecting whenever a storm is likely. A lightning strike isn't necessary to cause damage to sensitive circuitry.

You might be lucky, although it is unlikely to be a fuse, it could be or it could be an easy repair, though in my fairly limited experience the tv is unlikely ever to be quite the same ever again...
