A Harddrive's physical size is rated from it's Width. How wide across is it.

A Notebook PC harddrive is 2.5 inches across in width. (2 and a half inches)

A Desktop PC harddrive is 3.5 inches across in width.

1) You need a 2.5 harddrive.

The exact specific model number is on the bottom of the laptop. Usually in a white sticker.

If this was installed as ajpanese machine then you really can't change much at all. You go to control panel and simply set the language to english. That will change menus and so on but it won't change anything that is hard coded such as programs and most of windows. The big problem is that Japanese kanji script is not really compatible with English type languages. Japanese Chinese and other asian typed languages are the worst ones. Something like french or German is much easier to do and generally you get more stuff to switch language.

Basically it boils down to if you want to change it over you really will need to re-install windows using a English install disk. Not being able to read the language you wil lhave a real time getting to the control panel and the restore disk or partition is probably Japanese. I have tried this but always found it was easier to use the english disk instead now. You just never get enough switched over to make it worth the hours to switch everything that will switch. There is always a menu or program that will be in the original language.

Try installing the latest audio driver.

go to NEC website or download driver max program for free at www.drivermax.com, it will search for and install your driver

The easiest way is to purchase a usb bluteooth dongle. You can get them at your nearest electronics retailer.

The screen displays is dark/ dim because there is no backlight.
There are two parts responsible for lighting the display (Inside the screen). First is the CCFL (Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. Either of the parts can be faulty or in some rare cases both. But most likely it is the CCFL (Lamp). Its life is limited and depending upon how long it has been in use, you can have a better idea - if its the CCFL or Inverter.
(Rest assure that your system is ok and you can check it by connecting you laptop with some external display, which would work fine)
So, my advice is that you get it properly checked by any professional for replacement of CCFL.
