faded screens are always a bad sign
usually, it indicates light water damage on the motherboard.
other times, it's significant of a ruined lcd screen or both
Regretfully, water damage is almost impossible to repair
you could try putting the device in a bag of rice for two days and see if that fixes it. I highly doubt it will though

Hello,

if it does not power up, then it means its having a power problem. it might have worked fine in the past, but that's electronics for you.

This unit must have a power supply board in it where power enters from. One or more components may have been defective on the power board and maybe that's why its not making the unit turn on. There might also be some disconnection or something, inside the unit which is not making it to power on. Also, check the battery terminal and make sure it is intact.

To actually find out what's wrong, you need to disassemble the unit with a screw driver and check what's wrong. You will be needing a meter in order to test the components on the power board, once you detect any bad component, you can make necessary replacement at any electronics accessories store within your vicinity. This is the only way by which you can detect the problem.

Of course, testing the power board with a meter will require someone that has the ability. So it you can't, then you might be needing the help of a repairman or you can call a friend that has the ability to help you out.

I wish you the best of luck.

To connect to a computer, you need the Sync cable, and the Palm Desktop Manager, download it here:

http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/32859_en.html

Then to get on the internet, it is the same as a wireless laptop, you go to the WIFI icon, and select the hotspot you are in IE: Home WIFI, Panera Bread (free WIFI)

Click on this link or copy and paste the complete link into your browser.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy Holidays!

A very basic question would be if you've fully charged the battery pack. It is very likely to have gone dead in the interim, which means you'll have to reload everything (other than the ROM-based software that came with it) once the unit returns to life.

Older palm products and vista aren't compatible. You either needs to transfer info via bluetooth or upgrade your palm if you wish to continue using vista.

It died. Accept it and move on. Probably want to consider buying an up-to-date PDA (like an Apple iPOD Touch!).

No, the backlight seems to be about the first thing to go when these screens fail. You can possibly get a replacement screen from pdaparts.com.

to be able to hotsync with outlook u need to install the Palm Dektop, and while installing check the option synchronize with outlook. this will install conduits that make the hotsync with outlook possible, and don't forget that only the conatcts, calendar, memos and tasks are synchronized with outlook, the rest (if it is interisting u ) will be synchronized with the PDS. good luck

Palm IIIxe... | Answered on Sep 12, 2005

Yes - the software was included. Your CD software allows you to select synch with Palm Desktop or synch to Outlook. As long as Outlook is installed on the PC, the CD software installer will see Outlook and offer you this option. So the answer to your question is - reinstall the software and take the option to sync with Outlook when it is offered. PS just in case you have Outlook Express, this is not the same things as full Outlook. Outlook Express requires third-party software for synchronization of its email database and of its addressbook (actually Windows Address Book WAB format).
