The issue can be one of 3 things.

1. the charger doesn't work properly anymore - if possible try another charger. Don't buy a new charger, if possible borrow or take it to someone to test. --- If the phone works with the charger but the battery wont hold charge, then the charger is fine go to 2.

2. the battery is dead. And would need to be replaced. this is the most likely problem.

To replace the battery, follow these instructions: http://www.directfix.com/category/_treo_600_battery.html

you can buy a new battery from http://www.directfix.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GHT&Product_Code=PA1547&Category_Code=_TREO

if this does not fix the problem then. the problem could be the charger (1) or most likely the mainboard (3)

3. the phones mainboard is faulty and its unable to charge the battery.

You could try doing a hard reset, but its unlikely to help, the phone probably needs repairs. (A hard reset will delete everything on your device.)

to perform a hard reset, if you need instructions please click open this page and follow the steps under treo 600 http://kb.palm.com/wps/portal/kb/common/article/42094_en.html#treo600

if the problem remains after replacing the battery and trying another charger even and hard reset, then the phone is most likely in need of repair.

Check if your ringer volume is turned to low. Adjustment buttons are at the left side of the phone. Check also Prefs under applications - you can set your tones volume there.

Palm Treo 600... | Answered on Sep 11, 2010

Press the "Home" button on keyboard, go to Prefs, then select 'Date and Time' on upper right dropdown list of your screen.

Go to applications - preferences - touchscreen. Follow the instructions to calibrate your touchscreen. If it does not work, reset your phone by pressing the small button at the small hole at the back of the phone with a safety pin.

here are a couple of solutions, try them in order.

1.start making adjustments inward until the tap is registered and accepted. Once the phone allows you to pass this step, you can try to recalibrate the screen from the preferences.

2. Do a hard reset, to do this press the "up" button while pressing the "Reset" button

I's sorry to tell you your screen is dead. The screen is not displaying any information but the backlight is still functioning. This is the most expensive part of the phone as far as replacement parts and after-market parts. If you can fine one that is a reasonable price, you are very fortunate.

I have three screens like this at home. There are three layers to the screen, the backlight, the imager, and the digitizer. All three sandwiched together create the screen.

If the phone was on when you fished around the charge port, it is possible that you inadvertently caused a charge or grounded the charging/power circuit. You are fortunate that only the screen was damaged...if that's the only part that is damaged.

There are different codes for different service providers. Here are some of them.

For Sprint, Rogers, Bell or Verizon:
Your mobile service provider may have set a locking code on your SIM before you received your smartphone. In North America, the default unlocking code is usually 1234 or 1111. You can try these codes, or call your wireless service provider to find out the default locking code they use. Enter the default unlocking code (PIN) and then tap OK. If this doesn't work, contact your mobile service provider to get the unlocking code (PIN) for your acount.

If you enter the unlocking code (PIN) incorrectly three times, your SIM card will be blocked (not locked). If you see the "Unblock Phone" screen instead of the "Unlock Phone" screen, your smartphone has been blocked. You will need to contact your mobile service provider to obtain the unblock code (PUK).
Extra caution
If you enter the unblock code incorrectly ten times, your SIM will be permanently disabled. This prevents thieves from running up charges on your wireless account if your smartphone is stolen. If your SIM is permanently disabled, contact your mobile service provider to obtain a new SIM.

If none of these work then you will need to call your service provider. Best wishes...hope this helps.
