Tap the little house, then tap Prefs. When in Prefs tap Digitizer or scroll until you get there, or get to Digitzer any way you can. Open digitizer and it will instruct you how to realign your screen. Follow their instructions and you should be back in business. If this doesn't work then you may need to get your PDA repaired. This worked for me in less than a couple of minutes. Good luck

My Palm Zire 31 had to be hard reset. Since then
Hi,i think there is a slight system hinderance with the synchronizing software on your zire,the problem can be solved by performing a system(warm) reset which must be followed by a soft reset,Here is how you go about it;
- Press and hold the UP button on the front panel of your device.
- Use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus. Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device
- If you see a progress bar, keep holding the UP button.
- Next, the Palm Powered screen will appear. Release the UP button when you see it.
- Important: Perform a soft reset after the steps above.
- SOFT RESET
-
- Use an unfolded paper clip, or the reset tool at the tip of your stylus.
- Gently press and release the RESET button inside the hole on the back panel of your device.
- After a soft reset, a logo screen appears, followed shortly by a Preferences screen asking you to set time and date.
- All data on your device should be retained. If you do lose data after a soft reset, you may have a more serious issue with your hardware that requires a repair.
Thanks and take care
About 1/2 of he time now, my Zire 31 has problems
Either the digitizer is failing or you have a protective screen on it.
I'm not sur eif Palm is still supporting these of if they have changed policies. It used to be a set fee say $85 to fix or echange. If they still do this. then I would find out if they apply the $25 against the repair fee. You can also send it in to several pda repair places who wil fix it for a reasonable fee.
A Tx or Lifedrive is a better palm but can be worth much more. You can find those used all over and may be the way to go to upgrade if you want to save a few $
My palm pilot keeps telling me to , use stylus to
Either you have a protective cover that is too thick or your digitizer is or has failed.
You can try a differant stylus to touch the targets. On my 31 it was stubborn the odd time and would do this from time to time. With a sharper stylus point and being very careful about touching the exact center of the target it would get out of this.
I have tried all the
Are you trying to sync the PDA to the computer? If yes, the first thing that you need to make sure is the hot sync software should be properly installed in your computer.
The PDA will not respond if the sync software is not working correctly. Try to uninstall and reinstall the sync software. And try again.
Good luck!
How to sync palm data with Itouch?
You can sync to Outlook on the PC and then get the Outlook data onto
the iTouch. If you have a newer PDA, It's install CD has a Sync options menu item
where you can switch between Palm Desktop and Outlook. If you no longer
have the original install CD or have an older device Pocket, Copy from
Chapura.com It will move the Palm Desktop records to Outlook.
I used the device yesterday.
This is not a power issue. The problem is related the program. I could say that the program is corrupted based on your statement.
Unfortunately, we cannot just trust and download the latest firmware for your hand held because some of them contains virus and malware.
I would suggest to contact the manufacturer and have them upgrade the firmware of your device and that should fix the problem.
Good luck and have a great day!
When charging my Zire 31,
Hello. You have the choice of charging your Zire while it is turned off, which is the fastest way to charge, and the display will be black. You can also charge while it is turned on which will show a working screen for a few seconds or when ever you push a button, but will also go black if you leave it as it goes into an energy saving mode. Regards, Joe
New computer running Vista won't recognize Zire 31-no driver?
Have you installed PalmDesktop to your new computer yet?
There is no Windows driver for the Zire 31, but you will need Palm Desktop before you can sync.
I still have a Zire 31 in a box in the garage, and I'm happy to dig things off of the CD if you need anything, just use "add comment" in the top right corner there.
After charging, it won't get past 'Align the targets'
Friend,
You should keep using whatever you have invested it. Nothing stays new if not used. Electrical, electronic, mechanical or just about anything. They have to used to keep them running. So is the case with your Palm. It needs the firmware to be installed again. it has been kept idle for three yrs and the media must have got fungus on it or whatever it could get. The firmware could get corrupted due to disuse. I am surprised that the battery is still picking up charge. So, please get the firmware reinstalled and start using it now. Yes, all your data would be lost in reinstalling. In any case that old data may not be of much use now after three yrs.
Alternatively, remove the battery a few times and then reinsert and power on. It may work. If not then what I told you above should be followed.
