This is how I got it working. Don't use wireless sync software, someting is definitely buggy with it. Here is what I did to resolve sync errors: 1. Perform a hard reset on the Palm 2. Go to the Palmone folder on your hard drive (C:\Program Files|PalmOne. Look for the Backup folder. Rename this folder Backup Old. 3. Connect the Treo to your computer. 4. Right click the Hotsync icon in the taskbar and click Custom. Change the four Outlook conduits (Calendar, Contacts,Tasks,Memos) to Desktop overwrites Handheld. 5. Run a Hotsync with the Treo. It should sync without errors. If you need to install additional applications you can add them now

My Palmone Tungsten/E2, displays Fatal alert MemoryMgr,C,Line:3751,Free handle
The unit will not reset or hard reset. Unit stays on until battery is drained.
Thoroughly flush (delete) documents to go using the tool below and then reinstall.
Worked for me two times over the past two years when my E2 has gotten sick.

I had to replace my Palm Lifedrive, and bought a new E2.
In trying to install the new Desktop, I keep getting the following error message:
Error 1316. A network error occurred while
attempting to read from the file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\palmOne.msi
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Peace, Ross
Have you uninstalled the previous version of Palm
Desktop?
Do you have more than 1 profile on your computer? Sometimes
multiple profiles can make things difficult is software is installed logged in
as one and then you try to install/uninstall as another profile.
Are you
installing Palm desktop from a disk?
Try this file from palms site -

take a look at this-

Tungsten E2 Will not charge fully.
Synchronize your E2, then work on draining the battery all the way down in order to reduce the effect of battery memory. Memory happens when we repeatedly partially charge a battery. Over time the battery will forget how to keep a full charge, but will remember how to be partially charged. That's usually when users realize there's a problem. The first step is to drain the battery and FULLY charge it at least fully on the battery's indicator, but if you can, let it sit for 24hrs. The second step is to try to use the battery more before charging it and let it charge fully (ie-overnight) before using it when you need to charge it.
Good luck and let me know how you make out.

Everytime I got that error, press soft reset on back and it should reboot normal

Screen will not respond to stylis
I noticed this problem with mine and solved it by loosening the 4(four) T5 screws in the back. The problem is caused by a swollen battery. When the PDA is left charging for extensive periods of time, as mine was(several months of inactivity and never thought to unplug it), the battery will swell. It's still a good battery and holds a charge, but the increased girth presses on the internal boards of the PDA causing the screen to register a continuous "touch" and therefore seems locked. It's actually waiting for the phantom touch to release so it can act. Unscrewing the fasteners allows the body to expand, thereby releasing the pressure on the screen and letting the phantom touch go away. I'm going to see how well my e2 does without the screws in it at all for a few days. The front and back panels have "clips" molded into them which hold to the side frames, keeping it closed. But the fasteners are there to ensure the PDA doesn't fall apart all together. So, wish me luck. I'll report back in a few days and update this.

the digitizer on my Palm Tungsten E began to progressively "skew" regardless of calibration - worked fine in the upper L to lower R calibration range but a lower L touch resulted in a mark 1/8" lower that where I touched the stylus (meaning you have to touch the "w" to get an "a" on the soft keyboard, this improves as you move right across the keyboard so touching a "k" is just fine - kind of annoying).
Upgraded to a new Palm Tungsten E2. After a few weeks, the E2 started demonstrating the same skewing characteristic. During a digitizer calibration attempt, the unit locked up. After hard reboot, no part of the digitizer screen functioned - all other LCD and I/O attributes are fine.
Is this digitizer component of the Palm Tungsten series known to be fragile in this way?
If I replace the digitizer component in the E2, might it happen again?
Is there aftermarket digitizer calibration SW which models the Palm's original 5 point calibration routine using all 4 corners?
thanks, K Britz, Seattle
Palm one is in trouble because of problems like this. They don't work on it but you can buy parts to try it yourself. I never had the problem myself but similar conditions. I do windows based units now.

My E2 keyboard doesn't work. When I click on the "ABC" ICON it types a "." (period). Can this be fixed?
One way around this problem is to touch the "DataVis Sheet To Go" (top left corner in black) icon and from there go to "Edit" and then "Keyboard".

My unit became non functional when I downloaded too many pictures into it thus locking it up totally. I can turn it on but there is no response whatsoever when I touch a key or the screen.
It also will not turn off. I have to let the battery weaken enough that it automatically shuts down. In short it is completely non responsive to anything I do when trying to boot it up.
The unit is nearly new and has not been damaged or abused at all.
Best thing to do here is to remove any memory cards etc.. and do a hard reset - seems like soft reset will or has not worked...
Press and hold the power button - keep it pressed and gently press the reset button on the back of the handheld.
Wait for the Palm Powered logo to appear and release the power button.
You should get a message warning about erasing all data. Press up on your 5-way navigator to reset.
This will erase all data inlcuding user information from the device, but synchronizing should get it all back - but you will loose anything that was not recently sync'd
good luck

how do i transfer my calendar and contacts from my palm pilot to iCal and iPhone?
The best way is to transfer the Calendar and Contacts to Outlook. The iPhone can then be synced with Outlook.
Unfortunately, tasks and memos do not transfer. You will need to find other 3rd party apps that are supported on the iPhone and transfer your data to them.
Two examples are:
1. Evernote - This is good for memo. You can export your memos and then import them into Evernote. unfortunately, when I did this, it was a bit tricky. I even had to write a little PERL script to create the format that it wanted.
2. RemembertheMilk - this is a todo application
