RCA DCM425 DIGITAL CABLE MODEM (RCADCM425) - Page 5 Questions & Answers
I have the DCM425 RCA
Hi.
You should have no problem using the modem with another internet provider as the modem is a cable modem and not a ADSL modem.
Make sure that your new ISP (internet service provider) is supplied by a cable company and not one that comes through the telephone line as the modem will not work if that is the case.
Once you have cable installed its as simple as connecting all the leads like the coaxial lead and the Ethernet lead. turn it on and you should be good to go after about 2 minutes.
Click on the link below for an
on-line PDF operators manual for the RCA modem which will tell you exactly how to install the modem.

You will probably need to reinstall the driver for the modem. Do you still have the CD with the driver on it? Otherwise let me know what operating system you are running on your computer and I can find the driver for you.
Cant get conected
Can you clarify the problem? I have the same modem. make sure that the coax cable is connected to your wall and that the ethernet cable is going from your modem to your router or computer. If all else fails pull the power chord out of the back (thin black chord) and wait 30 seconds or so, and plug it back in. This will reset your modem.

I have a RCa broadband
Yes it is perfectly OK. Remember that a fax essentially works as a phone, so you would run a line from the RCA modem to your fax card, then from the fax card to your telephone. In this scenario you would have to accept your faxes manually though.
The modem is blinking for PC link and cable
You're paying monthly fees to COMCAST, correct?
So, telephone them, and get their "technical support" department to help you get it working.
Threaten to switch to some other Internet Service Provider.
I need connect a wirelees router a this modem,u
most wireless routers are setup for cable modems out of the box all you need to do is run an Ethernet cable from your modem to your wireless router. you can then access your wireless router by the ip address and a pc hooked you directly to the router.
I have a dcm425 and
That's obviously a problem with your unnamed router, and not the dcm425.
Try looking for and flash upgrading (or downgrading) your router.
I had a Linksys router that I always kept up to date with the latest firmware, and one day it started doing the exact same thing we're talking about here. I had to downgrade the router to a previous version to fix the issue. Newer isn't always better!
I cant get on the
Has the cable company provisioned your modem? IE - are you paying them for internet service, or are you just hoping that since you own the modem that all you have to do is hook it up and it'll work?
If you have paid the cable company for internet, and they have set up the provisioning for your modem, you may need to reset it.
Off the top of my head I am trying to recall if that unit has a battery in it.
If it does, to reset it, you need to remove the battery and unplug it.
Make sure the modem is connected to everything but power
insert the battery (if it has one) and reconnect the power
If you still don't have internet, call the cable internet service provider.
I accidentally knocked the AC adapter to my RCA
You could have only a damaged power supply, please look in an Eectronics parts store another with the same characteristics (input and output voltage, current, plug type) and retest, maybe your actual AC adaptor is broken inside and that's why it doesn't power up your modem correctly.
The modem keeps on loosing connection and
Hi. My verdict is that the smoothing capacitors inside the modem are to blame. Opening the modem, with the power off of course, you should clearly see that the tops of these capacitors will be swelled and split at the top. Looking at the other similar type capacitors inside the unit, will have a flat, metal top which is what the defective capacitors should look like. Typical value of these electrolytic capacitors are 1000uf (uf = micro-farrad) @ 16 Volts. I suggest replacing with 1000uf @ 25v of the same type. I would recommend asking anyone you know who is comfortable with a soldering iron, unless you are skillfull with one yourself.
Please post back with your results. Hope this helps you and good luck

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. If you are still not able to access router with above ip then you need to RESET it for that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router then all settings defaults..Then you can access it with above method. . We forgot the password, what do we do ????
Hi,
This issue can be resolved by reseting the router. You might see a reset password option on the back side of the router.
Please
reset the router by placing a pin in reset hole and push the pin slightly, (remember you need to do this when the router is in ON
state)
Then connect your router to your computer using Ethernet port (this is for configuration) and also connect the ADSL cable.
now open internet explorer and type in //192.168.1.1
Then it will prompt you for user name and password
Username: admin
Passsword: password
this username and password is by default.
