Configuration

That is a very good question, but that would take way more space than this forum offers. A good router tutorial, which covers the configuration from the IOS command-line interface can also be found here.

You should check out Cisco's page on EIGRP (link) or Petri's Blog about configuring EIGRP (link), but if routing protocols are in general a new thing for you, you will be better advised to get a book that covers all protocols, otherwise this might not make any sense to you.
Look for this:
CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate Study Guide by Todd Lammle, Publisher: Sybex
You can get it at amazon and it costs you only 20$ (used) or 30$ new including shipping. Here is a link.

If you have specific questions, I'm happy to help, but in the book it's already more than 60 pages on IRGP/EIGRP alone, so I don't really want to type that all up, plus you would need some general information as well.

I need the address ip for a router cisco 02706?

Connect a computer with the Router. Open Command Prompt Type: ipconfig Lots of information will be displayed. Scroll up if required and search for: Ethernet Adapter Local Area Connection: In that category you will see one listed as Default Gateway. And that is the IP Address of your Cisco Router.

Garbage in Cisco 1841

There are two things that can cause this:
  1. Incorrect serial settings. The default settings are 9600 baud, stop bits of 1, and parity 0. However, it is possible that these settings were changed. Likely, the baud setting may be higher as someone may have tried to XMODEM an IOS image onto the device and wanted faster speeds.
  2. Bad connection, cable
I hope this answers your question.

Rommon 2 ipaddress

With the set command. Example: rommon > set PS1=rommon ! > IP_ADDRESS=172.18.16.76 IP_SUBNET_MASK=255.255.255.192 DEFAULT_GATEWAY=172.18.16.65 TFTP_SERVER=172.18.16.2 TFTP_FILE=c2600-i-mz.bin Alternatively you can XMODEM an image on there. However, that takes a long time, even if you increase your baud rate. Also, on 2800 series routers you can put the image on a USB flash drive. However, the drive must be formatted as FAT and the partition size cannot be larger than 256 MB. This might work for an 1841.

Connect to cisco 1841

This is more of a business unit. It requires a serial port connection and a fair amount of CISCO networking engineering knowledge. It is command only. No GUI interface.

1841 router in rommon mode cannot install flash

Basically you will need to use TFTP to get the IOS back on. HERE is an article from Cisco that explains how to do it. I have done this before and even though it takes a while to reload the IOS (because in my case I had to use a serial connection at 9600 baud) it does work.

The router starts and finish POST then decompress

I don't really know what your asking but i guess you want to know why your startup-config doesn't load. What your router is displaying is normal. You need to change the configuration register.
1.Let the router load then if asked select Yes to abandon autoinstall, then select No to skip initial setup. Press return (enter button) when asked.
2. Now type the following at the prompts. (you type the bold stuff press enter after each command)
router>enable
router#conf t
router(config)#config-register 0x2102
router(config)#exit
router#reload
........save changes blah blah blah.. type NO
continue with reload Yes
providing you have a startup-config, the router will now load it on bootup.

Hope this helps

Hi i have 1841 router what is the default user

  • Follow these steps in order to recover your password:
    1. Attach a terminal or PC with terminal emulation to the console port of the router.
      Use these terminal settings:
      • 9600 baud rate
      • No parity
      • 8 data bits
      • 1 stop bit
      • No flow control
    2. If you can access the router, type show version at the prompt, and record the configuration register setting.
Note: The configuration register is usually set to 0x2102 or 0x102. If you can no longer access the router (because of a lost login or TACACS password), you can safely assume that your configuration register is set to 0x2102.
    3. Use the power switch in order to turn off the router, and then turn the router back on.
      Important Notes:
      • In order to simulate this step on a Cisco 6400, pull out and then plug in the Node Route Processor (NRP) or Node Switch Processor (NSP) card.
      • In order to simulate this step on a Cisco 6x00 with NI-2, pull out and then plug in the NI-2 card.
    4. Press Break on the terminal keyboard within 60 seconds of power up in order to put the router into ROMMON.
If the break sequence does not work, refer to Standard Break Key Sequence Combinations During Password Recovery for other key combinations.
    5. Type confreg 0x2142 at the rommon 1> prompt in order to boot from Flash.
This step bypasses the startup configuration where the passwords are stored.
    6. Type reset at the rommon 2> prompt.
The router reboots, but ignores the saved configuration.
    7. Type no after each setup question, or press Ctrl-C in order to skip the initial setup procedure.
    8. Type enable at the Router> prompt.
You are in enable mode and should see the Router# prompt.
    9. Type configure memory or copy startup-config running-config in order to copy the nonvolatile RAM (NVRAM) into memory.
Important: Do not type copy running-config startup-config or write. These commands erase your startup configuration.
    10. Type show running-config.
The show running-config command shows the configuration of the router. In this configuration, the shutdown command appears under all interfaces, which indicates all interfaces are currently shut down. In addition, the passwords (enable password, enable secret, vty, console passwords) are in either an encrypted or unencrypted format. You can reuse unencrypted passwords. You must change encrypted passwords to a new password.
    11. Type configure terminal.
      The hostname(config)# prompt appears.
    12. Type enable secret password> in order to change the enable secret password. For example:
      hostname(config)#enable secret cisco
    13. Issue the no shutdown command on every interface that you use.
If you issue a show ip interface brief command in privilege EXEC mode, every interface that you want to use should display up up. For example:
      Router#show ip interface brief
    14. Type config-register configuration_register_setting>. Where configuration_register_setting is either the value you recorded in step 2 or0x2102 . For example:
      hostname(config)#config-register 0x2102
    15. Press Ctrl-z or end in order to leave the configuration mode.
      The hostname# prompt appears.
    16. Type write memory or copy running-config startup-config in order to commit the changes.

Flash: CompactFlash not present I am getting above

Please check the below point and revert if any queries

  • Default/maximum:32 MB/128 MB compact flash,128 MB/384 MB synchronous dynamic RAM (SDRAM)
  • The Cisco 1841 Router has a single, external compact flash memory. This is the only flash memory for the system and should never be removed whenever ROM Monitor (ROMMON) is being updated with a new image or configurations or when the compact flash LED light "busy" is on.
