it is quite an undertaking for a novice to dismantle and remove pads and absorbers for cleaning and or replacing , but yes you should be able to, the ink is water soluble so with enough hot water you would be able to

In order to print on transparency film from a HP8600 all you have to do is load the paper rough side down with the white border going into the tray toward the back of the printer so that you can not see it when you look into the paper tray. The HP 8600 will auto-adjust for the film, that is why you do not have the option to select transparency like you did in the HP 8500

If your printer's status displays "Printer in error state," there may be a problem with the printer itself. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your PC by Wi-Fi or cable. Check it for low paper or ink, and be sure the cover isn't open and the paper isn't jammed

First, be sure all four toner cartridges are seated properly as is the transfer belt. Close the front panel, then the top panel, power-cycle the printer and try again. If that doesn't solve the issue, it sounds as if either the actuator for the front door switch is broken off (which is highly unlikely) or the door switch itself is out of position. Getting to the switch involves removing most of the panels just to get to it; not impossible, just involved and a LOT of screws, plus a small black spacer for the top-left panel hinge. If you have any kind of a warranty or maintenance agreement on the printer, DO NOT TRY THIS, you WILL void it!! You have to unplug the printer, remove the fuser from up top, then the top panel, lower the front panel and remove the transfer belt and keep it out of the way in a dark area. Remove the hinged rear panel at the rear bottom followed by the rear panel (which fits inside a side panel, something to remember when reassembling). Now the side panel. If the switch is out of position, reposition it. If it's broken, it will need to be replaced. Reassembly is in the EXACT opposite of disassembly. You may wish to forego this and get an HP authorized tech in to do this for you. Worst Case Scenario: the DC Controller board is bad. But that's also unlikely ... possible, but unlikely. Let me know how it turns out!

go to start menu, choose printer & faxes, click the printer icon properties and find the printer resolution to adjust the dark printing capability
