Hi, you have to set up your printer as a device that can be communicated in your LAN by the two PCs.

To set up your printer properly in the LAN, you need to assign a fixed IP to this printer such that whenever it is switch on again, both PC still communicate to this printer without changing the new IP assigned to this printer.

You need to set up this fixed IP properly in your DLink router. For guidance please check this in your user manual of the Dlink. Please let me know any problem you may have again in future.

if still not, you can reset the router to its factory settings. You can do that by pressing and holding the small reset button at the back of the router. You will need to use a pin to do that. Usually, the reset button has a red circle drawing on it. Just press and hold it for 10 seconds while the power is on. You will notice that the lights will flicker including the power light. It will turn red. Once done, just wait for the router to boot then access the GUI and use the login that I have provided. You should be good to go.

Your D-Link is a "switch", not a "router".
So, every computer that you connect will require a _UNIQUE_ IP-address.

However, your account with your Internet Service Provider is only granting you *ONE* IP-address.
Upgrade your account to pay a few dollars more per month, to get additional IP-address(es).

Buy a D-Link Router, for under $50, and connect both computers to the 'LAN' ports,
and connect the 'WAN' port to your cable-modem (or DSL-modem).

Take a look at the location you have it placed in. These off the shelf solutions are nice quick fixes but they over heat easily. This causes the firmware to crash. So you reset 'em and all is well again. Until it overheats again. Check out Ubiquiti's bullet router. I've got one running 100 computers and I havn't had an issue with it yet.

For this as per my knowledge there are no extra mounting plates comming commercially. But itself having some mounting tools such as wall plug, screw etc. in it's package....and for permanent installation if you need it very much you can order such thing in turning workshop...but try to use it in friendly environment....because those are heat and hazard sensitive for heavy duty.....All the best.

Is the PC's connected to the D-Link able to browse the Internet? Sometimes the MAC Address will bind to certain IP's and must be cleared out when the Router is replaced. Please unplug the power to the router, X-Box and Cable or DSL modem. 1st plug in the power to the DSL/Cable modem until the "Ready" light comes on. 2nd plug in the power to the D-Link Router, wait 30 seconds then plug in the X-Box, power on and test. If a computer plugged into the D-Link will browse Internet then this is the solution to your problem.

it depends on the type of internet service you have if it is cable internet most cable modems can act as a gateway for conecting multiple computers but the cable company needs to activate that feature on the modem.

You can find the details of the operator and the state they belong to .the operators wont reveal the address and name of any mobile numbers only higher officials can only get those information.

I am sure it is now toast and you cannot downgrade if the wrong firmware has been installed. I would ask D-Link.

try changing the channel number from auto to a channel number 2 or 3 higher than the lowest channel number.' do this by logging into the d-link dsl 2640

NO OS stated by you, at all. why:? page 3 is OS compat. after reset the default address is 192.168.0.10 5volt power pack is NOT OPTIONAL. 1998 what did you read the free manual yet. the last page shows printer compatibility list, does your match? where would you find a printer that old working now. crickets...??? my guess is 2003 year made. the manual is free , at dlink dot com you push the reset button for long time per manual 15sec (iirc) the release it and now all defaults are set. per the manual, google dir-655 manual. easy as pie if you just read the manual.

There's a reset button on the back of the router, it's a small button that you can press using a paper clip. Press it for 15 seconds to reset it.

Reset 1:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds at the back of the router while the router is on.

Reset 2:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and release the reset button. Then plug the power cord back in.

Reset 3:
Press the reset button for 15 seconds while the router is on after 15 seconds unplug the power cord while holding the reset button then count another 15 seconds and plug the power cord back in while the reset button is plugged in and count another 15 seconds release the reset button.
