this is a common problem with this device. contact your service provider, they need to recode your phone. they can do this remotely.

i think you answered you own question. poor cell service will do this to you. try powering off you phone at least once a day, and then back and this will help reset it. phones react strangely in poor cell areas. do you have wifi? if yes, some phones and some carriers allow you to automatically use wifi calling when wifi is available. iPhone 5s, 6, 6+ allows this as does sprint and verizon. not sure about tracphone which might use att networks and att does not yet allow wifi calling. just a thought if you live in a poor cell area. might be worth it to you to switch.

I haven't had any problems coverting minutes from tracfone to tracfone. I have bought smart phones from tracfone and converted minutes to it. If you are trying to convert minutes to a smart phone, that is not tracfone, like Net 10, I'm not sure it will work. Your best bet is to call Tracfone yourself and ask them. They are very helpful.
