Extended Systems Pocket Print Server Questions & Answers
Check the IP Address of the 2833. I believe there is a gray button you can depress to print out a configuration sheet. If the wireless modem was also your router, you may have a different IP address range and will need to set the 2833 accordingly.

the information in the link is too long to paste but you may want to look at it.
HP Jetdirect and Embedded Jetdirect Inside Print Servers - TCP/IP, Messages on Configuration Page or Self-Test PageGet the IP address subnet and gateway address of a computer in the same network.
Usingthe LJ5's control panel, setup a static IP for the Jet Direct using thenumbers you got from the Laptop, except change the last number of theIP to one that is not being currently being used. Perhaps adding 5 or10 to the highest number in use.

How this works:
Restoring the PocketPrintServer to Factory Defaults
In most cases, the best way to restore the PocketPrintServer to
factory defaults is through "telnet". However, if you are unable to
connect to the device because of a configuration error, use the
following method which does not require a network connection.
To restore the PocketPrintServer to factory defaults, complete
the following steps:
1. Disconnect the PocketPrintServer from the network and
power cycle it. When it powers up, the LED will rapidly
blink orange for five seconds.
2. Power down the device during the rapid orange blink
period. Power up the device and power it down during
that orange blink period two more times.
3. Reconnect the network cable and power up the
PocketPrintServer. It will have restored itself to factory
defaults and will rapidly blink green as it searches for a
RARP or BOOTP server to find an IP address.
Gleaning
If an IP address has not been permanently assigned when the
PocketPrintServer is powered on or reset, it will look for a "ping"
packet on the network. If the PocketPrintServer receives a "ping"
packet within two minutes, it will accept the IP address in the
"ping" packet as its own address.
To use Gleaning, you must have super-user privileges on a UNIX
system. Gleaning also works under Windows 95 and Windows NT.
1. Add an entry in the ARP table that assigns an IP address to the
Ethernet address of the PocketPrintServer. To do this, use the
"arp" command.
arp -s temp
Example:
arp -s 192.168.42.24 00:02:16:00:00:01 temp
2. Start a continuous "ping" to the PocketPrintServer.
ping
Example: ping 192.168.42.24
On some systems, this may require an additional parameter.
Some implementations of "ping" only send out one "ping"
packet which could get lost in transit. Check your system
documentation for more information.
3. Connect power to the PocketPrintServer.
The PocketPrintServer will "glean" its IP address from the "ping"
packet. This IP address will remain in effect until the
PocketPrintServer is power cycled or reset. Therefore, a permanent
IP address should be assigned by running the ExtendView TCP/IP
utility or via "telnet".

Most Print Servers are by default on DHCP and if the PS is still on its factory defaults, it won't get an IP address because your computer won't have a DHCP server (unless u have set up one).
Now, you can ask the person you got it from if he had ever assigned a static IP Address to the PS.
Also, one of the reasons why your laptop won't detect the PS might be a software firewall installed.
Please revert back with any other questions or observations.
good luck

If I remember correctly there is a reset/print configuration button on the pocket print server. With it connected and the printer on, press it once and it should print out a configuration sheet with its settings. If that doesn't work, disconnect the power and with the button held in, reconnect the power and release the button.

modern PCs, 2015 or newer, w10 on PC new.
saves an image file as shut down
if the hdd is bad, w10 fails now.
w10 can not magically make a bad hDD be good, so fails.
run smart tests first on C:
