Symbol PDT 6846 Portable Terminal - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Need to reload Symbol PDT 6846 scanners
To configure the terminal Ctrl-C to drop you to a DOS prompt then type cfg11 this will then take you a configuration screen where you can enter wireless and IP settings.
I can’t say about what program you are trying to load. If you get the system to associate then the next step is to configure the host settings.
FUNC-CTL-R at the Connect to Host screen
Password: system
Then you can add host settings.
It’s a shame we fix PDT6846's all the time and if we replace the board reconfigure them for the customer.

Terminal cannot associate with AP
Problem
Hi there,
This could happen if:
-
PDT6846 is operating with battery at less than nominal charge level (lower than normal power output).
-
Possible defective radio card.
The PDT6846 configuration is not the issue here, as the unit will associate once within range of the access point. If the PDT6846 fails to connect when roaming out of the primary access point range, and relocates to an adjoining access point's cell, this problem is indicative of either an internally defective RF card or simply a weak signal output from the PDT6846 due in large part to a weak battery.
- Verify PDT6846 is operating with a fully charged battery.
- Warm boot PDT6846 to reestablish radio association.
If problem persists, the PDT6846 requires repair attention specific to the internal radio card.
Thanks!
We are having trouble to get a PDT 6846 Portable
Yes...there are lots of things you need to tweak. Contact Motorola Support (they bought Symbol) at 1-800-653-5350. You may need to create a script to run with the CISCO AP's...Symbol defaults to their own Access Point settings. Good Luck. If you need further help, our company, qdata, can help (for a fee)

Symbol PDT 6846 - Scanner won't read 13 digit
This sounds like a programming issue. What application are you using? If you are using a terminal emulation software then you will need to check your host for the issue. If you are using a batch program where the files are stored on the scanner then you will need to check your "validation" files to make sure the code you are scanning is in the scanner.
Connect PDT6846 to Wavelink COM Server
you can get it from www.wavelink.com they are quite good and still offer the files for the older terminals. however, you may need to get a license from them in order to use it on the pdt.
