You are not the only person having problems with the Belkin N750 DB Wireless Dual Band Router. Are you using the correct cables? One more thing you can check, does it have a reset button on the bottom or the side? Try those two things.

Any modem should work; the modem is the device that provides a signal to and from the router. I have never run into any compatibility issues for a signal TX/RX device.

Some people turn everything off at night and then when they turn things back on everything starts powering up. If you do this, it may be the problem because you have the modem and the router starting up at the same time. If the router finishes before the modem then it will drop. Just make sure that you turn your wireless router on after the modem had booted up. This problem also happens when you have a power outage in the house and they both boot up at the same time.When ever you are experiencing drops, just go unplug the wireless router then plug it back after about 30 seconds.

I would recommend unplugging your router and modem, then plugging your modem in and waiting for it to establish then plugging in your router and that should solve the problem. Your router should have the ability to upgrade the firmware by going to its web interface. To find the address go to a command prompt and type ipconfig and find your default gateway. Type that series of numbers into the address bar of your web browser and u should be able to update it from there.
