Laptop went turned off all of a sudden, no battery or power light
No, they don't have fuses, atleast I'm not aware and I don't recall it being mentioned in any service manual, but I will check to make sure...
well As I though, the word fuse is not mentioned in the maintenance manual for your m45.
it would appear to be a hardware failure, take out the battery and unplug the charger for 5 minutes, before plugging anything back into the computer press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
then plug in the ac or the battery and test.
Lets see,
Is the DC IN LED on?
Is the BATTERY LED on?
Does the power turn on?
Make sure the charger is giving power and that its properly connected and noting is lose.

My problem is that my laptop will not start and
You have a virus. One of the files in your registry has been corrupted that's why you can't log on. I'm going to teach you two ways you can fix your computer.
- The first way is very difficult, but you will be able to save any of your important data.
- Recovery Console: First your going to need to find out which file has been corrupted. You can find the one you need by describing it in Google. when you find the correct file you need to find your recovery disk and hit recover rather than install. you'll come face to face with a Command prompt. from there you need to type the file name and then type copy. I highly advise against this because I have very little knowledge of the Recovery Console. But this is the only way I can think of to repair your operating system.
2. The second way is much easier and I highly advise it. However it means loosing all of your data.
- Reinstallation: You need to insert your recovery disk that came with your laptop. When it asks you if you want to recover or reinstall choose reinstall. from there the task is simple choose your C:\ drive to install windows. Finish some routine questions and wait a while and you will have a brand new computer to work with.
Please rate me I would like to know if i was of any help. Thanks

Unable to connect to wi-fi
I think it is saying that the wifi "card" is set so that it is not being configured by windows.
In XP
Control panel > Network connections
Under LAN or High-speed internet you will see an icon labelled wireless network connection. Right click on this and then click properties. You will see three tabs at the top
General - Wireless Networks - Advanced
Click on wireless networks
There should be a tick-box saying Use windows to configure my wireless network settings. I expect that, in your case, the box is unticked which means that the software supplied by the vendor of the wifi card is configuring the settings. I find that it is usually more reliable to let windows do it.
So tick the box and click OK. You may then have to reboot.

Toshiba Satellite shuts-down by itself in about 1 minute
Could be hardware or software problems, IF its hardware issue the only problem makes this if the Cpu fan doesnot work, so the Cpu gets hot and then it shutdown in order not to be damaged. but mostly its software issue that remeber if you installed any program before this is happen, and try to stop shutdown by this command, if you did this and this stop shutting down your laptop this is absolutley software problems or programs conflict:
hit Start, then Run , then type this : shutdown -a
this will stop your shutdown if it works, try to uninstall the last programs causes this issue,if it doesnot let you use safe mode command.

BIOS Password
Enter the bios
You should see something that says Administrator Password, hdd password, etc.
Not all bios menus are the same so you gotta poke around a bit.
Let me know if you need any more help or if something is unclear.
Best of luck!

Toshiba m50-mx2 powers up okay but no display
when you have the memory in and you boot up does it look like the hard drive LED is flashing? If so then its booting up into windows and that would mean a bad Display. If nothing happens then try a different stick of good RAM and see if it boots up then, if still nothing then it sounds like a bad motherboard.

How to turn on the 10-key number pad
does the keys 7-0, u-p, j-;, and m-/ is working under MS-Dos command or not? If not the problem could be the carbon of you keyboard is worn-out, you have to cut the carbon of your keyboard that has connected on the motherboard, but before you cut take off the plastic of the caron atleast 1/2 inc. and cut the old carbon. Make sure that you turn off your power before you do anything. If still the same problem it means that some carbon inside of the keyboard is already worn-out, you have to replace the whole keyboard. Remember if some keys are not working this is hardware related not software nor setting.
