You can buy larger IDE hard drives but I am not sure it will be worth it for an older PC.

There's two possibilities that come to mind. Let's start with the easy one:
Your video driver may have become corrupted. If that's the case the fix is somewhat easy. You'll just need to go to the Toshiba web site and go under the support or download section (whichever is easier to find). It will ask for your system model number or service tag. Both of those should be printed on a label that can be found on the bottom of the system... yeah I know... great location. Just jot those down on a post-it or something. Once in that support section you should be able to select drivers. From that point it's just a matter of downloading the latest video driver that matches your system. Once that's re-installed your color "should" be back.

If you don't see any change that brings me to the second possibility... HP, Toshiba, and to a small extent Gateway are all bad about putting ribbon cables in the hinges that carry the video signal to the screen. In time as the laptop is opened and closed these cables can become damaged. The results of this range from individual colors being missing, to no color, to no picture... it all depends on what part of the cable has been damaged. The cables themselves cost around $7.00(US) give or take... the companies will offer to install them for around $400.00(US). If you want to have that checked I would recommend finding some local repair shop that deals with laptops and letting them test it and decide what to do from there depending on the cost... new laptops aren't all that expensive these days and most shops (good ones anyway) will copy your files to the new system for a minimal fee.

Good luck!

did u check your raid options on the bios?

Try TOSHIBA as the password. It works on most of their laptops. I'm not sure about desktops but it's worth a shot! :) Also try holding ESC while it's booting before the password prompt comes up. That sometimes works too. Good luck!

From all of the specs, it appears that is motherboard only supports up to a 20GB drive. The way to add this drive is to buy a separate hard drive controller, but honestly that is a waste of money. By the time you finished adding pieces and parts to get everything to work, you will have replaced so much that you could buy a new system and alos have issues wiht some things not working.
Dell has a low end desktop for on $399 and you can find some things even less than that in their refurb section, with a warranty, for less.

System restore will not do what your asking.

However there is a way but you will need a Installation cd Assume you have Windows XP

Then you need to borrow or buy a Windows XP Home Edition or Pro

You can buy one used from Ebay.

There are two options !.Repair install this will save all files/data on your hard drive.

Follow these instructions to Repair install.

Boot the computer using the XP CD.

You may need to change the boot order in the system BIOS so the CD boots before the hard drive.

Check your system documentation for steps to access the BIOS and change the boot order.

When you see the "Welcome To Setup" screen, you will see the options below
This portion of the Setup program prepares Microsoft
Windows XP to run on your computer:

To setup Windows XP now, press ENTER.
To repair a Windows XP installation using Recovery Console, press R.

To quit Setup without installing Windows XP, press F3.
Press Enter to start the Windows Setup.

Do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R", (you Do Not want to load Recovery Console).

I repeat, do not choose "To repair a Windows XP installation using the Recovery Console, press R".

Accept the License Agreement and Windows will search for existing Windows installations.
Select the XP installation you want to repair from the list and press R to start the repair.

If Repair is not one of the options, END setup.

After the reboot

Setup will copy the necessary files to the hard drive and reboot.

Do not press any key to boot from CD when the message appears.

Setup will continue as if it were doing a clean install, but your applications and settings will remain intact.

2. If you want to do a clean install that will completely wipe your hard drive clean then follow the instructions from this site http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/win...

You will then need to reload all Microsoft Windows Updates and find all other drivers and software from http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/c...

Then wham bam you should be back in business.

hope this helps

The cable (Wire) stays attached to the Power Button Board,

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2270-POWER-SWITCH-BUTTON-TOSHIBA-EQUIUM-A100-/221111621689?pt=UK_Computing_Other_Computing_Networking&hash=item337b479839

No, I'm wrong? The Flat Flex Cable (FFC) does come out of a ZIF connector on the Power Button Board?
You may wind up buying the Power Button Board, and Flat Flex Cable, then.

Or you may find a 'Mom and Pop' computer store, that can repair the cable.
