Try formatting it first in your computer and then in the camera. Sometimes a corrupted SD can't be read by the camera beforehand. If that doesn't work and you cannot format any SD cards try a factory default reset from the camera's menu options.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

See this page of the user guide. Make sure you have an SD card, 2GB or smaller. The camera will not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Hello Donna, make sure you are using high quality name brand batteries not those dollar generics. If it still does not power on there is a fault with the camera that will have to be diagnosed.

If your batteries are old, they may have lost their retaining power. Therefore, even if you recharge them fully, they will drain quickly.
Try using new batteries and let us know if the problem is not solved.
