My Kodak EasyShare DX7630 won't

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use iPhoto or any other photo cataloging program.

Camera Error # 45

If it is under warranty i advice you give it for service as this is a pretty complicated procedure to get it fixed.

E45 error message sometimes means that the lens is misaligned, This error is also may be due to failure of the control system.

To solve this:
You can remove battery and card replace battery and while switching on tap the lens hood on your hands so as to disengage any dirt or mechanism being struck.

Use some air to blow between the lens to dislodge any sand particles struck inside. If none of these works then you can think of taking consensus with the service center.
You must keep in mind that to open the camera without good experience is not recommended and might tamper the delicate unit so best option is to Contact Kodak to see if your camera is still under warranty, otherwise contact any Kodak Cameras service provider, your problem will be solved.

Its very unlikely the lens is "out of alignment" this just cant happen unless its been dropped or bashed, in which case it may be broken.

Hope this helps. (remember to rate and comment this answer).

What does an E45 error

Hello

Thank you for using FIXYA!!!

This is a suggestion. If you do not feel comfortable trying it, you will need to take the unit to your nearest service centre. Feel free to let me know if you need any assistance.

The problem might be that the lens has become stuck in the barrel. There are some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.

Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.

Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.

Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.

Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).

Try gently pushing or pulling the lens when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.

Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.

Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.

Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair centre for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera.

If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.

You can also have a look at THIS link.

Hope the advise is useful. please do not hesitate to let me know if you need any further assistance. Also, please be so kind to let me know if you found this helpful.

Regards
Andrea

Battery lock broken, needs replaced camera

I had the same problem and was able to find a replacement lock and spring on e-bay from US Camera - P/N 370388337496). They may have none left. Not sure.

I have no instructions on how to install the replacement, but don't think it should be that hard (haven't installed mine yet). It is called a Kodak DX7630 Battery Latch and Spring Assembly.

You can also contact United Camera Customer Service (1-630-595-2525) and talk with them. They are the company that Kodak will send you to for repairs to your DX7630.

The part number From Kodak PartsDepartment (1-800-431-7278 (opt #2) is: F6170 for the latch. The did not have any springs on hand.

It says the following: While pressing the Mode dial lock, turn the Mode dial from Off to Auto .
The Power ring glows green. The camera screen turns on. The Ready light blinks green while the camera performs a self-check, then turns off when the camera is ready.
To turn off the camera, turn the Mode dial to off.
Hope that helps.

I have 2 different sd

The DX7630 works with MMC and SD cards. Your 4GB cards are actually SDHC cards, not SD cards. While they will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

On switch on, I get 'High camera temperature

Hi,

You should try to press the shutter button before the error message comes. This will force the camera to make a picture and operate properly afterwards. This is a common problem and has been fixed many times using the above trick.

If unable to fix, you need to send the unit for repair. To be honest, i would hesitate as the cost of repair would be high as compared to the cost of the product.

I wish i could have a better solution.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

PS - Do accept the solution,if 100% satisfied from my response!!

High temp amd power spikes

Time to trade up. Due to spare part shortage this model is no longer repaired.
Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

My DX7630 still takes photos

What size memory card? The DX7630 works with SD cards. If your card is larger than 2GB then it's actually an SDHC card and worn't work in the DX7630.
