Your problem may be due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, chances are that your batteries need to be replaced because they're just too worn to properly power the camera. And then, of course, there's the possibility that your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

Can kodak CX7430 be charged with USB

A USB connection will not provide sufficient power to your camera and it could damage the internal board. You could opt for purchasing a AAA battery charger or buy a charger/ac adapter from eBay as they go around 10$. The model you're looking for is kws0325.

Good luck.

The problem you describe is frequently the result of dirty/corroded battery contacts in the camera. Try removing the batteries and cleaning the inside contacts with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or fine sandpaper. Remove any residue left from the cleaning, then replace the batteries. Hopefully all will be well.

If the cleaning doesn't work you might want to check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

Photos look like they have a pink overexposed wash on them.

This is generally an issue with the imaging chip. I've seen this on other cameras and it's typically been a blown CCD chip (which "captures" the image....) If it's a new or under warranty camera, send it to the manufacturer, if it's out of warranty, it's cheaper to simply replace the camera.

My digital camera will not turn on

My problem is now fixed! I put in a fresh set of recently purchased non-rechargeable batteries into the camera.

I was out-of-state visiting my Dad and taking many photos of his things. I ended up replacing my batteries with some he had around the house just prior to the first instance of camera's problem.
[I do not know the age of Dad's batteries!]

I went to Kodak's website [link] www.kodak.com/global/en/service/products/ekn027989.jhtml?pq-path=3906/1931

On this page is a heading "Troubleshoot And Repair," and I followed the link - Step-by-Step Solutions & Repair .

This is just a guess from out in left field but are you sure your battery(ies) is charged up -and that it hasn't lived out its lifespan? Also clean any battery contacts with a clean, lint-free soft cloth or a clean pencil eraser followed by the cloth.

If you use AA batteries and they have leaked, you will need to clean the electrical contacts in the camera. Use a clean, lint-free cloth, dampened only with water- you don't want moisture getting into the camera. Use your finger and the damp cloth to clean ayway the corrosion. You may need to rinse and repeat with the cloth a few times. Then use a dry cloth on the contacts. Leave the battery compartment open for an hour then try new batteries.
