If it is under warranty i advice you give it for service as this is a pretty complicated procedure to get it fixed.
This error is caused due to the failure of lens alignment system.Try following the procedure below..
it may be the lens contacts or grit in the gears
open it up on the side of the lens you will see a row of thin gold coloured contacts that report the lens position back to the cpu sometimes these get dirty or bent.on the side of the lens is a motor, look where the gear meets the lens and use a pin to flip out any grit that is stuck in the teeth.
Its very unlikely the lens is "out of alignment" this just cant happen unless its been dropped or bashed, in which case it may be broken.
Also i have heard some people bashing the camera a couple of times to get it working..
hold the camera and bash the edge next to the lens against the palm of you hand as hard as you can, one I did have to get a little more medieval on and bashed aginst a bit of carpet on the bench.. but it worked... might be worth a go if the next step is the bin...

I have the same problem, it is only then there is sunlight. Light from other sources and there is no problem. I changed the meter setting to be center-weight instead of multi-pattern, it works sometimes. When center-weight does not work, I change the setting to be center-spot. I can not save the setting change, so it annoys me to change it every time I turn it on or change from portrait to landscape. I figured a sensor was going bad, so I bought a new camera, but it does not have the view finder, so it bugs me. If you find any solutions, please let me know.

According to the manufacturer a glowing red light either means your memory card is full, or your memory card is set to read only. I would try uploading your images to you computer using a card reader, and if this doesn't work I would make sure that the SD card is not set to the locked position. If neither of these options works I would try cleaning the battery contacts. If none of this works I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps!

This is rarely less than $150 up. If the camera is still under warranty, and no evidence of damage is there, Kodak may fix it for you. If you want to find out, take it to a local camera store that sells Kodak and have them send it away for you. If there is no evidence of dropping or water damage etc, say it just stopped working. An estimate and shipping is probably about $20 bucks. I wouldn't really suggest paying $150 for a new one, but you can get a hell of a lot for $300 (Canadian) this year. I also don't suggest that you look for the highest megapixel or highes zoom in that price range. 6-8MP max, with good build quality, sharpness and features. This photorapher suggests Kodak, Pentax, Canon. Don't buy a $300 12MP, or 30X zoom unless you've got a thing for disappointment. These cameras cannot perform.

The first thing you need to determine.... Is it your or the camera? You need to take a series of shots with your camera sitting on a tripod. If you do not have a tripod, sit the camera on a solid surface. ................... Camera movement is the number one cause of blurred photos. A few tips: 1. When you punch down the shutter button ... that can move the camera just as the picture is taken. Dont ''punch'' down the shutter button. Hold the camera in such a manner that you are squeezing the shutter button between your forefinger and thumb. 2. When you are using the LCD to frame the shot, you have your arms extended in front of you. This invites camera movement. Instead, use the viewfinder and make sure that the camera is pressed against your face. Your head is steadier that two outstreatched arms. For added stability, lean your shoulder against a pole, tree, building, or other solid object. 3. When taking flash pictures remember, that flash only covers so much area. The CX7530 is rated for 11.8 feet if you are not using optical zoom. It is rated for only 6.9 feet if you are using optical zoom. If your subject(s) are beyond those distances, you will get a dark photo. 4. When shooting in dim light and not using flash, the camera will select a slow shutter speed. You must use a tripod or sit the camera on a solid surface.

No, the camera needs its own power to power the camera's CPU, USB interface and internal memory. It has to have its own power to communicate properly to your laptop.

However if your camera uses a memory card or stick, you can remove the card/stick and plug it into your laptop and retrieve the pictures that way without using your camera.

I have had problems with mine for quite some time. My last 2 vacations involved me taking the batteries out everytime between pictures and rubbing their ends, sometimes that would help.

wrong !!!!!! the lens cap is proprietary to the camera I think I might have one if your interested?

maybe a bad ccd imager. the peice that takes the picture (converts color to digital)

There are programs for restoring files that have been lost or deleted. You can check at downloads.com. they usually have at least one or two for free.

Did you reinstall any of the affected software recently? That can cause this result. Basicly, the arrow pointing to the file now doesn't point directly at it in your file system any longer. Try looking in the top dropdown menus of the program for an option like 'import' (probably under 'file') and browse to the folder you want. You may be able to import the folder, or you may have to select all of the contents of the folder. Hope this helps...

I called Kodak last night, they told me to turn the camera off, then remove the batteries and the memory card then wait ten seconds then reinstall both. Then turn the camera back on.... IT WORKED~ try it!!

Did the batteries come with the camera? If not, they might not be a high enough mah rating. Some batteries, even though brand new, may not be strong enough to power a camera.

Kodak has a default folder where the software downloads pictures. For older version of Easyshare it is found on the hard drive under the Kodak Picture folder. For newer versions, the folder is found in My Documents. Do you know how to use Windows Explorer? You can also do a search using .jpg and see what the computer finds. I'm really surprised to hear your pictures are located on the D drive. Most older comptuers the hard drive is C and the CD-ROM drive is D. Are you sure you got the letters right?

As Cursor mentioned, your use of the term 'retrieve' is confusing. I'm assuming that you want to view these pictures, and that the error you are getting is because you no longer have the program you created the images with installed on the computer. Many imaging programs save their created files in some kind of format (extension) other than .jpg or .gif or .bmp type. The extensions I just mentioned are ones that Windows recognizes and associates a viewer for them. If your Kodak imaging program actually saved them in another type of extension, you should try reinstalling that Kodak program so that its viewer will make the association again....then as you can open each image, click File, Save AS from Kodak's toolbar, and save the image as one of the three file types I've mentioned from the dropdown arrow box (FILETYPE box). This means that you will now have two copies of that image.....one in the extension Kodak used, and one in the extension that Windows can also view for you. Then if you don't want the Kodak Imaging program installed anymore, after you have saved all of your images in a Windows type of extension, you can uninstall the program and you will still have a copy of the image that Windows will be able to view for you. I hope I have understood your problem and my suggestion helps you get the images working again. TONI

Turn on the camera. Make sure the camera is not in Favorites mode. Make sure there is a connection between the camera and the printer. Make sure power is connected to both the printer and the camera. Use the Direct print menu to change the image storage location.

Remove EasyShare software from your startup menu: Select Start > Run. Type: MSCONFIG Click OK. Select the Startup tab. Clear the Kodak Easyshare Software check box. Click Apply, and then OK. Click Yes to restart your computer.

This error message means that the preferences in EasyShare software are set to save pictures to the CD-ROM drive or some drive other than your hard drive. To correct this, follow these steps: Start EasyShare software. Select Tools > Preferences. Select the Transfer tab. Below "Select the location on your hard disk where you want to copy transferred pictures," select Browse. Browse to the desired location on the hard drive where you want to transfer your pictures. The default location is: For Windows 98/Me Operating Systems: c:/My Documents/My Pictures/Kodak Pictures For Windows 2000/XP Operating Systems: c:/Documents and Settings/user name/My Documents/My Pictures/Kodak Pictures Select OK to return to Preferences, then click Apply and OK to save and close the Preferences. Reconnect the camera, and transfer the pictures.
