You need to access the modem setup screen and see what the signal and signal to noise ratio is. The reason most modems drop the connection is because the signal gets weak. Since you are using cable, any connections to that cable cause it to lose signal. If there are splices, or splitters before that modem, each one can cause a 3 dB or more loss and 3dB in half your signal. is your PC on DHCP or static?
perhaps try putting PC on static and see if this helps.
perhaps try reseting router to factory default and try again.
Looks like for some reason your PC is trying to pick new address every time you download which could be coincidence.

But try with static first and restore with factory default.

Sounds like it is the modem. The TV does not use the modem. The line comes into the house and goes to a seperate TV box.

You need to find the factory reset switch. Usually they are a tiny hole which you need a paper clip for. They are usually on the back. Insert the paper clip and touch the reset switch. You only need a light touch and you should feel a click.

The IP address might be on a sticker on the bottom of the modem. The factory default address is likely to be 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something like that. Let me know how you get on...

make sure its not diabled if the eathernet card is disabled eather ing device manager or network connections it will not work try making sure both of these are enabled if they are make sure the cable is ok if that dosent help then it sounds like your eathernet card has gone bad

Your cable signal is low.If you have any splitters remove them.there is only one single cable that should go to the modem out to the box on the house then inside the box the cable for the modem should be on a 2 way splitter, the input is from the cable service, one output goes directly to the modem and the other output usaully goes to another splitter that runs the rest of the TVs in the house.basically the modem needs "priority" or first dibs on the bandwidth coming to the house.
