Hi, I think I know what has happened to you.
You asked if cold weather will affect the steering pedal, and the answer is yes.
What has most likely happened, is that your control pedal has gotten wet, then froze somehow, might have been snow, could have been ice, it could have even been just plain old fashioned condensation.

When it gets cold the moisture will condense, and attach to almost any surface, and has likely caused a slight corrosion problem.
I would take the bottom off of the pedal, and try to clean the contact points inside the pedal, as this is the most likely cause. Now if there is a separate switch for directions, I would look at cleaning the contacts inside it as well.

Also, wires can corrode with moisture, so look to make sure that where the wires hook up there is a good clean mating surface, that way the wire gets a good connection.

Now, what might have happened as well, is that when you stowed the boat, somehow the wires the the steering controls got damaged somehow.
You may have to use a circuit tester and check each wire for continuity, that way you know if there are broken wires inside the wire casing.

Ok, Now motor use "Special" fuses, it is like a Slow Blow, as when a Motor starts up it can and does draw many many times it's rated Current... I suspect you are NOT using the correct fuses/breaker, you sold try simply upping the Fuse rating, a bit, as long as you are sure that all is well. However you may find you actually have a fault?. Motor speed controllers, can work fine "Down Low" but when it is turned up to maximum it may draw so much current that the Fuse or breaker is tripped, or blown... have you checked out your motor rating versus fuse breaker rating, you need a bit of "Headroom" as stated with a motor. it draw as a lot of current and the system has to be flexible enough to accommodate this.

the 24v tells you that you need 24 volts ok so what you will need to do is to get 2 12 volt batteries and put them in series than run this to the motor this is usually done with a disconnect switch in the line with your start switch ok? you can also contact the manufacture of the motor for further details

55 is a 12 volt system northland marine has diagram.

Usually this means that there is a crack in the coil cord or there is something metal close to the head of the motor.
The coil cord can be checked while you are out fishing next time by grabbing the cord (black coiled cord from base to head of the motor) and stretching it and pulling on it. If the motor reacts to the pulling then that's the problem.

You need a new foot petal

Man, you have a job ahead of you. First, if the unbreakable shaft is cracked or broken, you will have to replace it, for it will leak into the motor too. If your unit has the sonar sensor in the front and it has had water in it, the unit can corrode severely and need a lot of parts besides seals. The wiring to the sonar runs in a protective shield bonded to the magnet housing and one of the long screws holds it in there. Remember to take the wiring to the sonar out AFTER you remove the big motor feed wires, and replace it BEFORE you reinstall the red and black cables. Some grease seems to ensure the o'rings slide on metal parts during reassembly rather than tear. It's quite a job.

I have the same problem with a 765mx 36 thrust. I am going to check the power going to the motor with a meter. I think it may be the PC board has gone bad. I will write back with my findings

It is not recommended to cut the transducer cables as they are sensitive to outside interference.  Most trolling motors have adjustable shafts so you can set it at the depth you want. Look for a locking mechanism where the shaft attaches to the mounting bracket.
