I think that “Microsoft pocket pc 1996 - 2003 os” called now “Windows Mobile 2003”. To upgrade your PDA to 2003SE please go to TOSHIBA Site http://www.toshiba-europe.com/. Than go to Computer systems. Under “Support &Downloads” there is option Download Drivers. Please chose your PDA and there are all useful Drivers for “Windows Mobile 2003 SE”. In every zip File there is “Upgrade Guide”. Read it. It can help you to make update without problems.

I had the same problem with mine e800. But after many of attempts I was able to make an update. Problem was connection between notebook and PDA. Check connection settings and try it again. It must work.

As far as I know it is not possible to change image language on PDA and in my opinion there is no any language free file.

You can try to do a softreset and try to read the cards again! Also cleaning the slot should also help...

usually on toshiba you have to download the touch pad file from the manufacturers web site unless there is a disable in the bios this varies by model...be sure to get the right "utility file" for your particular model
