Hi there

As I understand it you get Unkown device notice when you plug the router in to your PC via USB.

With routers/modems/access points that have USB connection the PC do not pick up the USB like other devices. You will have to install the drivers for the USB which will be on the CD that came with the Linksys.

You can go to the following link to get more details on the drivers: Linksys(Cisco) Support

Hope this helps

Win 7 Should supply the drivers or software automaticly.
Try this.
1 Shut down pc.Remove all cables from router including power cable.
2 There should be a reset button in the back of the router hold it in with a pen tip or paper clip for 1 min.
3 Plug power back into router and all cables.
4 Restart pc.
Once pc is started go to control panel/network and sharing center, and be sure your on home netwok.
If you are asked for a wep code from the router.
1 Open up your browser and type in in address bar and hit enter.

username will be admin
password will be the word password

Once in look under security settings and you will find the wep code wich you may need to enter in your adapters setup program.

Im going to leave you a link to your routers manufacturer.

If this has been sent to you by your ISP when you joined, ring them and tell them its stopped working and the should send you a new one.
It sounds like some circuitry has died, replacement required.

try different usb ports.

trying something else with a usb connection, if it restarts will all of the above then its a dodgy usb connection which has weaken during the hibernation period. and will need looking by a techy.

if the above dont do anything then it could be the adapter

Select the tab which says "Downloads" and provide the version number of your adapter. You can then download the corresponding driver files and install it.

For further clarifications, revert!

Just use the Windows Zero configuration to connect to the wireless network.

On the system tray ( bottom right corner of the screen ), you'll see the Linksys WLAN monitor ( green Icon ). Right click on that icon and select use windows Wireless Zero Configuration, then click yes if you will be asked if you want to do it.

Then connect wirelessly using windows.
Go to the control panel > network and internet > network connections.
Right click the wireless network connection > go to properties > go to the wireless networks tab > make sure that the box on the top is checked ( use windows to configure... ) > then click on view available wireless networks > connect to your network, make sure that you're typing in the right password because it is very case sensitive.
