Astra 20000U lost the power
if you can see the voltage and amp requirements either on the machine near where it would plug in or a manual then I have picked up the transformer at radio shack and they have a set of different ends to plug in on the DC side

What OS are you using?
I'll use XP for this,it might work for Vista also.
Go to this link and in the "Notes"section download the Windows XP patch to your computer.
Then go to this link

Click on "here" and you'll download Vistascan 3.55.That will extract folders,the setup file should be in folder #1.
I need install umax astra scan 5650 on windows 7

Windows goes off with the msg 'NTLDR is missing'
NTLDR errors are usually caused by defective RAM on the motherboard. Try removing one of the RAM sticks on your board and see if computer works fine. If still gets error msg, swap the RAM stick and try again to narrow down which stick is faulty. Sometimes, its simply some corrosion on the RAM contacts which in that case, you only need to re-seat the sticks.
Umax astra 5600
This is going to be a setting in your scanner program. The scanner does not have to load in your systray when your computer starts to work. This just makes it respond a couple of seconds quicker, but slows your computer down every time it starts. Never put things in your systray unless you use them constantly. Things by your clock are things that are always running. This slows your computer down.
