My WRT55AG Linksys Router does not work. I tried

Router setup
If you are using the cd that comes with the router, that is the problem. You do not have to use the cd. Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPPOe.

Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models).

WRT55AG router- wireless lights blink on and off and no ethernet?

If you plug in computers on the ethernet ports and they dont light up at all but you are sure that the cables that you are using works as well as the ethernet port on your computer that means that the unit is already defective. You can contact 8003267114 for replacement if its under warranty

Cannot obtain internet through router

Try resetting the router and modem. Unplug them both from the electrical outlet. Leave them unplugged for at least 1 minute. Then plug the modem in, let it establish a connection, then plug the router in. Do this with your pc turned off. After you reset the router and modem, plug them all back together and into the pc, then turn the pc back on.

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern

Limited or no connectivity

Limited or no connectivity only means that your laptop is not getting a avlid IP address like 192.168.1.100 from the router that can be cause by a ivalid security key or you need to adjust some settings on the router like the wireless name, wireless channel and wireless security, so I recommend you to call Linksys tech support and let them walk you through in checking the settings of the router, this is the number 800-3267114

Hope that helps...........

Security

Till the time you put a access code for the wireles it would show it as a unsecure connection. You can change this by accessing the router page.Just type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of internet explorer.Than it would ask you for username and password. Its ussually admin and the password field blank.Than go to wireless settings and the security to WEP.than you can put a password of either 5 or 10 digits.U can put your phone # which would be easy to remember and than just save the setting.Next time when you would try to connet to it than it would ask you to put the access code and will show up as secure connection.
I hope that helps

Getting better signal quality on wireless network?

Under the tab 'wireless' find the strint that says 'Channels', and change to another one (anyone) and then give it a day to see if you lose connection, if you do, go back and change it again. Try downloading the latest drivers and software. The WRT55AG and WRT54AG are known to drop signals. These routers are like cell phones, you have to find a good spot for them.

Lights not lit on router??!! Brand new!

as long as you have connected your powered up modem to the rear port of the router and set it up firstly through the RJ45 cable and it is plugged in, then the power light should be on, if no power light then nothing is going to set up, so as long as you know you have followed the instructions, it must be a faulty unit, but go through everything again, as you may have missed something; as we all do at times.

How Do I Make the Linksys WRT160n Wireless-N Only

Hello, Sit at your computer and open up IE browser. After this has opened up, go up to the url bar and erase anything there and when this is blank, type in http://192.168.1.1 then hit the enter key. The router should now pop up a login menu close to the middle of your monitor. The default password for Linksys routers is ADMIN leave the user name blank and just enter the password ADMIN This then will open up the routers main menus and at the top of the tabs look for the tab named "wireless" click on this tab and look this menu over and you should find the box to check or uncheck to accomplish what you want done. Good luck. By the way, while your in the routers menu "Change the Default Password" to something that you have to write down! leaving the password set the the factory default is a huge mistake. Like leaving all your windows and doors open going on a long vacation! Got it? Dennis

Linksys WRT300N router flashing all lights

On the back of the router you will see what looks like a pin hole, turn the router on and use a paperclip to push into the hole(it's a reset button) and keep it pushed in till the router cycles off then on again, it resets the router to default. Hope this helps.
