Linkys router WRT54GS not routing
Hi,
Apparently your WRT54GS is defective. This can be brought about by a power surge or near lightning strike.
If after unplugging and/or the hard reset (multiple times) it will not function as before, chances are that it is really dead. And since you have lost your receipt, you will have no supporting documents to request for a replacement. Unfortunately there are no other reasonable option for you but to junk the unit. You are still lucky in a way, normally when routers go bad because of a power surge or near lightning strike, LAN devices attached to it also gets fried.
Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back how things are or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards.

Getting a router signal, but no internet
Have you check if you have a valid IP address? You could run IPconfig in the DOS window to verify this. If you have a valid IP address, try pinging the default gateway (You should be able to ping it.) Then, try to ping a website. If you could ping a website or URL but still can't browse check your firewall settings and optimize your browser.
Please post here what happen.
Thanks and regards,
BeHar

You can try first to reset the router, by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds using a pen while power is ON then after that just run the setup CD for it to reconfigure the router and if it failed to reconfigure the router, better for you to contact Linksys tech support and have teh router replace since it has 3 year warranty, this is the number 8003267114 they are open 24/7...

Linksys WRTU54G-TM router does not
1) Try plugging into a different outlet
2) While plugged in, try resetting with the little button on the back.
If neither of those work (and I don't really expect they will), this means you have a bad transformer, or a bad power supply inside the router. Either one will require you to send it back to Linksys for repair. Sorry I don't have better news for you.

Hi,
The only way to revive the router is by doing a reset. If it still won't work I hate to be the to tell you this but the router is busted. Consider yourself lucky that it worked flawlessly for eight years. =)

ROUTER SIMPLY WONT WORK WIRELESSLY AT ALL
firmware reflash:
if the router's SSID is
not broadcasted even though it is on "
SSID Broadcast enabled" under the wireless settings, you may need to reflash the router's firmware if a
HARD RESET did not work.
Hard reset:this is pressing the reset button on the router for 25 seconds, unplug and replug the power cord while reset is still pushed, then let go of the reset button once the power is plugged back in.
Firmware upgrade:Click here to get the steps needed to be done.
if this still did not work, you may want to contact Linksys tech support at 1-800-546-5797 for further troubleshooting or an RMA depending on the status of the device.

Helo top experts
i assume that your computer can access the internet while hardwired to the wireless-g router. if so, you just need to connect your wireless computer to the wireless signal of the wireless-g router. you just need to scan or view the available networks detected by your wireless computer and select the wireless name (ssid) of your wireless-g router. make sure to enter the correct wireless security (network key) if it's enabled on your router. i hope this'll help you but if you can't still access the internet wirelessly, provide the specific model number of your wireless-g router, specify if you're using a laptop or a wireless desktop, and the brand and model of your wireless card/adapter

My internet is dead after adding router, help please
There is a soft limit with in router manangement software, which limits the number of threads/session connect from your pc via the router to the internet, if by any chance the number of threads go beyond that limit, the router will "crash".
Upgrade the firmware of your router might be a good choice, but make sure you use ethernet connection with a cable rather than do it wirelessly, as you might end up with a bricked router, which is recoverable but not quite easy.

Unbricking my WRT54GC router
I know this is going to sound stupid, but what I want you to do is to press and hold the reset button until the unit reboots. The try to communicate with it. What you may have done if overwritten your primary software load. so what yo may have to do is try to get to the default software or the "bios" of this unit.
I am almost certain that you corrupted that too but it is worth a try.
You may end up buying a new unit if all of this fails.
Here are some links that might help:
