How to extract my photos from 420 to my laptop w7?

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER

If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

I have a logitech clicksmart

I do not think the software and drivers called 'image studio 7.3' for Clicksmart 420 is available for Vista. To check this, use the first and second matrices or charts on this Logitec Support page: http://logitech-en-emea.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3428/section/troubleshoot/crid/480/lt_product_id/3400/tabs/1,3,2,5/cl/gb,en/kw/ . You could download the software there and try Vista's 'Program Compatibility Wizard' to see if you can adjust things on Vista for it.

I dont understand how to use my logutech

the web cam should have a driver to allow it to communicate with the PC ....after the driver ( the CD from the seller ) was installed ..just plug the camera ...and let the PC find it ..and all
after is proper installed and all the things are OK ...the main use for it is to make video audio calls in MSN messenger ...or Yahoo messenger Skype ...etc
all you have to do is to click the camera button from the conversation window ...and the other person receives an info for your intention ...in that moment you already see yourself in a window
second ...you can use it to make capture like a picture or a/v movies ...using the AM cap feature from the start menu ...( all programs)

My clicksmart 420 is very old about 10 yrs i

You probably need to update the driver software since it is unlikely that you are using the operating system for which it was originally designed. Go to Logitech's website and check if they have been updating the drivers for more recent OS incarnations. It wouldn't be unusual for a company to abandon a 10-year-old product from a support standpoint.

Very, very dark (almost black) lcd screen, but is functional

The LCD viewer is made up of the LCD screen, and the backlight. Your backlight is burnt out, or the circuit board isn't sending power to it. Backlights can be replaced separately.
