Scanner locked

Check your green scanner lock which is under the scanner area right in that area where your copies comes out of the machine. This is the most common cause of the "scanner locked" condition. The lock gets accidentally engaged as it is located right where you reach in to get your copies.
If the lock is not the problem then you may have a scanner drive issue.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

How can I scan a document into the WorkCentre M20i

You can not email documents on word format directly fromt he device.
PDF and image formats such as tiff and jpeg are the only formats you can scan.
A word document is a raw document that as been modified and formated by a specific text processor, in this case MS office. And the decive does not contain this processing capabilities.

Xerox work center 7132 will not boot up. error

Try to unplug the device directly from the socket wall and leave it for 5min. Plug in again. If message still occour it could be related to 2 reasons.
1. Sensor problem leading to "ghost" message -- require eng.
2. Toner replacement also causes this message.

Even if you do couple of boot routines you might want to have someone onsite to have a look at it. It might require parts.

How can I reset to

If it's still set at factory defaults, then the default username is "admin" and the default password is "1111". If it has been changed, I think you'll need a Xerox service tech to reset it from the service diagnostics.

Pcl6 error - false

Some ideas.
First , go to the back of the machine, there is a panel about 6 inches square with a couple of tabs on it to remove that panel. Turn the machine off, remove the panel. Remove BOTH memory sticks. With the memory sticks removed, turn the machine back on and let it come to ready. Then reinsert the memory sticks and power the machine back on.

Second, Go to Xerox.com. Click downloads and drivers. Then enter M20i in the search box. Go to downloads and drivers and scroll down to the FIRMWARE download, It should probably be version 2.9. May be higher like 3.1. Anyhow, Download the newest version of machine firmware and install it on your machine.
Other things to try if one of the first 2 dont help.

Change the ethernet speed (auto, 10M half, 10M full, 100M half, 100M full)
Reset NIC card
Reset copier back to factory default
Clear all the memory in copier

Our c20 has a message stating

Look under the scanner , up where the paper exits. If you look on the bottom side of the scanner you will see one green tab. That is the scanner lock. You have bumped it when removing copies.
Turn the machine off. Push that lever in then pull it back toward yourself until you feel it snap in place. That will fix it.
What I would do after that is. Open your document feeder, on the left side there is a 1/2 inch wide glass with 2 phillips screws holding it it. Remove those 2 screws, lift out that glass. Then make sure the black lamp carriage is out of the way, Slide it to the right , then pinch the tabs of that scanner lock, pop it out and flip it around and snap it back in backwards. It will not cause a problem after that. Or remove the latch completely and put some black tape or duct tape over that hole. that latch is only needed if your putting the machine in a vehicle and moving it a long distance. I doubt you plan on that.

How do I do a group fax with a M20i?

NOTE: The following solution applies only when the WorkCentre has the fax feature.

Speed Dial numbers must be set up before creating a Group Dial. If Speed Dial numbers have not been set up, See the Related Items below for additional information.
  1. Press the [Machine Status] button on the Control Panel. 'Machine Setup' will be displayed on the Display Screen.

  2. Press the [Up] or [Down] arrow button until 'Fax Setup' is selected, and then press the [Enter] button.
  3. Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until 'Group Dials' is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button.
  4. Press the [Left] or [Right] arrow button until 'New' is displayed, and then press the [Enter] button.
  5. Enter a Group Dial number between 1 and 200 using the numeric keypad, and then press the [Enter] button.

NOTE: If a 'Location No. is Registered' message is displayed, the number has already been stored as a Group Dial. Enter a number that has not been stored, and then press the [Enter] button.

  6. Enter a Speed Dial number to be added to the Group Dial using the numeric keypad, and then press the [Enter] button. The name and fax telephone number stored for the specified Speed Dial number will be displayed.

NOTE: If a 'Not Assigned Enter Again' message is displayed, the number has not been stored as a Speed Dial number. Enter a number that has been stored, and then press the [Enter] button.

  7. Press the [Enter] button. The Speed Dial number will be added to the Group Dial.
  8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 to add additional Speed Dial numbers to the Group Dial.
  9. After all required Speed Dial numbers have been added to the Group Dial, press the [Menu / Exit] button.
  10. If required, enter a name for the Group Dial using the corresponding buttons on the numeric keypad, and then press the [Enter] button. If a name is not required, press the [Enter] button.
  11. Press the [Stop] button to return to the Standby mode.

Account No. 15682132 How do I return a used drum

My friend, I think you arrived at the wrong site.

If you want to recycle your used cartridge, many of the big box stores accept these cartridges and will even ay you a small amount of money or credit to do so.

FixYa.Com is not in the cartridge recycle business as far as I know. FixYa.com dispenses advice.

XEROX M20I OPEN HEATER CODE DOES IT NEED FUSER KIT

On an M20 there is a 99.99999 percent chance the heating element in the heat roll has gone bad. You will have to replace the Fuser. Very easy to do.
First off, Google a business called The Parts Drop, call and order a fuser from them. Honest straight forward business. I do not work there, But I do business with them and they are the best.
To replace the fuser. You open the right side door, as if you were removing a jam. You will see the fuser on toward the top. it has a yellow label on it with a heat warning. On each side there are 2 silver phillips screws, a total of 4, You need to remove them. The one on the lower right holds a small black plastic cover on. Take those 4 screws out, unplug the one connector on the right. Insert the new fuser, plug the connector in and replace the screws and plastic cover. There is no reset required, it will warm up and run .

How do I clean document feeder? It is putting

If it is just puting lines on the copies ONLY when using the feeder here is all you need to do to clean that thoroughly.
Get a phillips screw driver. Lift the document feeder, you will see the "seal glass" about 1 inch wide on the left side. Remove the 2 silver screws, One on each end. Lift that glass up and out. Lay it on a white piece of paper. Take some alcohol and a regular piece of copy paper and clean that until you see nothing on that glass by placing it against the white paper. Get every little speck off. Then put the glass back in.
If you want to clean the entire scanner that is a different procedure all together. Let me know .
