Open that cover and look in the frame of the machine for an opening. Then look on the upper cover. There is an interlock switch on the machine. The plastic tab on the upper cover often times breaks off and will not actuate the switch, giving you that message.
You can fix it by gluing a paper clip onto the cover. Or call 1-800-835-6100 and order a new cover.

I believe is called "Green Flag" and it is located at the top of the printer; where the ink goes.

1. Make sure you are feeding the labels from the bypass tray, not from the cassette.-
2. Make sure the labels are for Laser printers, not Inkjet printers.
3. Do not try and re-use a label sheet that only was half printed on.
4. When you put the labels in the bypass tray, set the paper type to labels...this slows down the print process so they won't get jammed.

Head tilt Error..... Check tilt motors.

Xerox Phaser... | Answered on May 26, 2014

The printhead is stuck in the tilted position, or is not able to tilt forward to the print position due to obstructions.

Has ink spilled around the printhead that is preventing it from moving? (you should be able to push the printhead from left to right) MAKE SURE THE PRINTER HAS BEEN OFF FOR 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOU TOUCH THE PRINTHEAD !!!
Is the printhead stuck to the Wiper Blade?
Check the process drive gears for damage and make sure they are aligned correctly.
Has ink spilled into the tilt gears assembly or on its drive train? (left side of printer)

Hi there, Love your enthusiasm to fix it - probably very similar to me. But I think you'd be better suited finding a replacement part and buying that, then replacing with an original. I'm not sure what part of the world you're in, but there will be xerox service centres around. Or you could call-up a local printer repairer and ask them to get you the part. Otherwise you just start opening a can of worms when you start gluing it in - then there's a potential that it doesn't hold properly and next thing you're having the same problem again. Alternately - try to pick up a used printer on ebay or similar of the same model that is broken or for parts and hope that they don't have the same problem.

Use a q-tip and alcohol. Gently rub it against the ink until it wears away.

This means the Yellow ink sticks are jammed in the machine, open up the top of the machine and check if the sticks can slide freely up and down and remove any broken sticks.

If you open the output flap & the frount panel this will allow you to pull the plastic arround the screen off (by pulling it towards you stright) this will now give you access to the back of the control panel, first i would try cleaning the connectors if that fails you will source a new panel. Below is a like showing a video on how to remove & replace the panel. LINK
