Most likely there is a tab that actuates the cover interlock switch that is broken off.
You can look at the area of the machine that the door closes into and look for openings about 1/4 inch wide and a half inch long. There sould be an interlock switch in that opening. Then look back on the door to the corresponding area and see if you find an area the looks to be broken. That is the most likely problem..

Hi,

Have you tried to Unplug it?

If not, Unplug it for few minutes, say 30 minutes.

Now,

This is Actually a Common Problem with most of the Printers and Copiers. On most Occasions, it is a Hardware Fault. It sounds like the same in your Case.It seems that Paper Sensor is Malfunctioning.

In rare Cases, i have Found this due to Firmware Malfunction. But, both the Cases needs Repair by a Qualified Tech.

You could also try to remove all Cartridges, Trays and Whatever accessible. Then use a Compressed Air Can to Clean up Printer Internally.

If that would not Fix the Problem, i am Sorry to Inform you that you need to Send the Unit for Repair.

Let me know, if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Phaser 8400 only prints first

I would reload the driver, or switch drivers. Best on an 8400 to be using the most current PS driver. You can find it on the Xerox.com site.
Just click Drivers and downloads, then in the search box type in 8400.
Then click drivers and downloads once again and download the newest driver.
I hate to ask you to do this, but that also sounds like machine software ( firmware) corruption and shutting it off and on could cure your problem also, But yes I know, that wastes ink.

Sounds like the maching rollers are just dirty and slipping on that paper.
I would open the paper path, and look for all the gray rollers. Use a 2 step process to clean them. First use something like Fantastic, or formula 409, a stronger soapy cleaner to clean all those rollers, then clean them a second time with rubbing alchol.
One will clean off paper dust, general dirt the other will break down ink and oils that may also be on the rollers. You may want to clean them 2 or 3 times if it has never been done.

Xerox phaser 8400 will not feed paper on either

I am going to assume something here. That the paper does get out of the tray just an inch or 2 correct?
If so, the registration clutch is bad, it is really common.
You can do one of two things. If you go onto the Xerox.com site you can find the parts list for the machine and get the part number.
If the machine is feeding the paper out of the trays just a couple of inches and stops, you can call 1-800-835-6100 and follow the prompts to order parts. Tell them you want a registration clutch for a Phaser 8400 and they will look it up and send it to you.
If so. Just E-mail me at [email protected] and I will send you directions on how to change it. It really is an easy clutch to replace. Even if you never have changed one, I would doubt it would take a half an hour to change start to finish.

When we start the printer

One of 2 things is most likely, Either the machine shut off via a power failure and the Wiper Blade is stuck to the print head, or the print head block is very dirty.
That code is caused by the print head not being able to move freely.

When I turn on my Phaser 8400 I get an error

7,008.4x: head tilt not engaged.
The printhead tilt is not engaged, so it didn't tilt back properly or the printhead is stuck in the tilted position by the tilt lock arms. The process motor gear train getting out of sync can also cause this error.

1. Try rebooting the printer.
2.make sure there is no ink melted under the printhead which can make it dificult for the printhead to work properly..
3. make sure that the printhead restraints are not broken.
4. Check for an obstruction or damage in the process gearbox.
Ensure the gears are correctly aligned and homed. If faulty replace the process gearbox assembly.
5. Run the Tilt Axis Drive test to test the headtilt.
6. Run the Head Maintenance Wiper Clutch test. If the test fails, replace the wiper drive clutch.
7. Run the Wiper Axis Drive test.
8. Replace the exit assembly.

good luck!

Xerox Phaser 8400: Our printer keeps jamming.

There are no less than 5 places on this model where you might clear a paper jam. Is it possible you still have a small bit of paper stuck somewhere?

Blue color appears pinkinsh/now stripes and smudging

Are you using third party ink? make sure your ink is xerox OEM. This will clogg up the inkjets and ruin the print head for ever, If you have always used the third party ink then you might want to get a new print head. . If you have used xerox ink then It sounds like the magenta reservoir has spilled over the cyan. This is caused by moving the printer and not waiting for the cool down procedure. Also you might want to change the print head wiper. If the print head wiper is over used it won't clean the print head properly and what that causes is for ink to build up and causes smudge. also make sure the drum maintance kit is still in good shape. (its the yellow roller on the right side of the printer. Well hopefully this helps .

Our printer is showing fault reference:

7,010.43: The Printhead is stuck in the tilted position, or is not able to tilt
forward to the print position, due to problems.
  1. Try to reboot. still nothing
  2. do the printhead restraints rotate correctly? They are black plastic peaces that pull the print head back to it's home possition. Replace the print head restraits.
make sure no ink is spilled in the printhead area that could also be causing the jam. Clean around the print head area.
also make sure that the printhead is not stuck to the wiper blade. if it is do the following:
Start the printer in diagnostics mode and run idiags test Exercise Heater - toggle Printhead heaters to soften the ink. Manual separate the wiper and Printhead. Set them in their home positions.

well good luck.

I suggest verify the power supply; in this models the power supply is divided in two sections. I thinking that is a problem from the plugged and connections.

Also you can review the Phaser 85XX SERVICE MANUAL

What does fault code 37,016.43 cover?

The expected power from the supply
is not being drawn. This error may
be caused by a power supply that is
faulty or shorted by some other 50
V device.

Try disconnecting one connector from the power supply at a time. This will determine if another device is causing the error like a print head or the drum heater ect. After disconneting any connector turn it on to see if you still get the same fault. If after turning it on and off and nothing happens then finally change the power supply.

I have a xerox 8400 and it just keeps jamming.

Where does it jam? Is it making an "accordion fold"just before it enters the front rollers? Does it pick up a second sheet from the tray in the process?
Does it print OK from the manual feed tray?
If so, there might be a sensor worn out at paper entry, near the entry rollers and the plastic curved flap in the front. Once had this problem, the sensor's plastic "tongue" was half it's usual size, worn out by the paper abrasion alone.
