Zebra LP 2844 Thermal Printer - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

I had the very same problem but I know it could be several different reasons. In my case it was a media calibration issue. To perform calibration switch the power OFF, then pres FEED button and hold it, Power ON still holding and after three red flashes release it. Calibration report will print out. At the end of that print you should get "PRESS FEED TO END". Do it and it should be ok. Let me know if that worked.

you need to have thermal direct labels to print to a thermal printer. heat turns the paper black. check your labels to see if you have thermal direct or tuern darkness up if it is thermal direct paper

I found this information in the user manual:
Let the print head to cool for one minute, then use a new
cleaning pen to swab the print elements (the thin gray
line on the print head) from end to end. NOTE: You do
not have to turn off the printer to do this.
If print quality remains poor after cleaning, try the
Save-a-Print Head cleaning film to remove buildup
without damaging the print head. Call your authorized
reseller for more information.

Go into printer options and select "Fit To Page"

Green light red

I've a Zebra LP2824 printer , It gives me the Green-Red error .. And the manual guide told me that's a problem with flash programming .. What can I do to solve it ??

Epson standard code is totally different. EPL is Eltron printer language. I've not programmed in it, but there should be a programmers manual out there somewhere.

This printer supports EPL if it is a true 2844 not a 2844-z. If you want to print to it directly from programming you can to it that way.

There is a commercial driver for Zebra printers on Mac OSX, works perfectly with the GK420d printer even from courier Websites and Ebay shipping. You do have to pay for it but it works. The software might need to have the port set for the correct com port/

because if label lengh is ex. 20mm and you set up label print area as 21mm, it will over the size and it will skip the next one. the print area shoul be less than the label length. please verify software or driver.

try to reset to favtory default and do a test print, download if needed other driver (www.seagullscientific.com.) reset to factory default with this driver and try a test page. Hope it helps. Paulo.

To isolate problem run a test label from printer.Does the same thing happen? If so it is a printer problem.If not the problem is in the document itself.

First, I need to admit it. This is the worst printer I have ever used. I had all kond of troubles with it. The skipping labels problem was my misery for 2 days to. I had to find out that my labels were falling out of the printing area generating a new page (label). Go back fix your width. Make sure your label fits one page (label). Print again. That's what I did. Good luck.

Is this a 2844Z? the 2844 is an EPL printer and the 2844Z is a ZPL printer. Since your have described the printer as 2844 but mentioned that you are performing 3-flash proceedures, it sounds like you have installed the wrong driver. uninstall the driver and install the LP2844z driver so that you can send the correct print language to the printer. If this is not the case, then you need to clarify:
What is your model?
Details about the driver installed?
Firmware version of your printer?
Connectivity? (Serial, USB or Parlallel)?
What are the characters that are coming out on the page? ASCII -Extended?

If you tell it to print and the item goes into your Que for printing. In that screen click on the printer tab... In the drop down verify that the "Use Printer OffLine" does NOT have a check mark next to it.

Replace bad print head.

Raise the lid and look in front edge for a small switch. It is probably set to 1 or on. switch it to 0 or off.

I would uninstall and then reinstall the printer, these are a pain to troubleshoot.
