Usually there is a function key comb to turn on external output (VGA out). So for example hold down fn key and maybe F2. Which may or may not be the function key for your laptop. The particular fn key will have something that looks like two monitors or a rectangle on it.

For most NF210's, the original OS is Windows 7 starter. If it is the starter you can't really change the background as it has no personalization option.

However, you can get around this very easily by downloading Oceanis; it's safe, it's free and has been a solution for so many people with the same problem as you.

Sounds like a capacitor may have burned out on the motherboard, and may be related to the power regulator for the battery. The power regulator on laptops is what regulates how/when/if the battery is charged. Either way, your last posting is correct in that the motherboard needs to be replaced to correct a potentially faulty part soldered into the motherboard. There is a hidden Administrator account that is created when your operating system is installed. Access that account and then reset your password.

1. Boot your computer and press F8 repeatedly
2. Access Safe Mode
3. Key in "Administrator" in Username, with no password.
4. Go to Control Panel, then User Accounts
5. Select the account you want to reset the password
6. Change the password
