Hitachi LG GSA-4120 DVD+-RW/RAM 12x Burner W/ Dual Layer Support (GSA4120) Burner Questions & Answers
Foam ring came out of cd drive
Hi,
if it was sitting on top of the disk.
it must have been attached to the top-underside of the dvd drive.
this would usually act as padding or a buffer.
the only way, is to open up the drive, and re-fix or glue to the centre of the drive lid/top.
heres your only other option:-
If the front drawer is removable, or detachable. cut a piece of double-sided sticky tape. to the exact shape of the foam ( washer ) we,ll call it. stick to the washer. remove the other side of tape. place the washer on the centre of an old CD. manually eject the cd drawer ( Powered Off )
place the sticky sided washer on the centre of The CD. and place in the drawer. use a spatula or thin Knife, under the CD. to lever the cd, and sticky washer, back to the ceiling/roof of the drive. where it came from.
ensure it,s central. This is just a suggested Thought. And will require some thought before attempting it.

Hello ,
i have this
Hi Iuly,
-
Download and install CCleaner
(free) from Piriform
-
Run the cleaner to remove old
un-needed temp files
-
Select the StartUp tab and look
for any programs that you know you installed but no longer use or
need, and disable them. Caution, do
not disable any system files unless you absolutely know what they
do and that you do not need them.
-
Run the Registry cleaner, when
asked if you want to backup the registry, select YES,
and save to a file you will remember just in case. I have used this
program hundreds of time on many different system and it has never
caused a problem, but you want to be safe, backup the Registry.
-
If asked about a particular file
that it wants to clean, select "yes to all"
-
Reboot
Windows should reinstall the drive when
the computer boots back up.
If this does not resolve your problem,
try the following.
If you take all these step and you
still can not burn a DVD, chances are your DVD burner componet needs
to be replaced. Good Luck.

the only advice is that click on Start, right click on My Computer, click on Proporties, click on the Hardware tab on the System Properties, click on Device Manager, click on the DVD/CD-ROM drives if its there. if its not there, make sure your dvd drive is connected to the USB or plugged in Internally, click on Scan for hardware changes. thats all i can say. i dont really have that drive. i have the GSA-H21N. i am young and i remembered when i accidently did that to the keyboard. so i figured out how to do stuff like this.
Region Selection
You cannot change the region code again after 5 times of changing even if you move it to a new computer or install a new OS on your computer, I recommend buying a new DVD Drive to access full functionability and no restrictions.
Need drivers for hitachi model gsa-h21n dvd burner
drivers are not needed in order to cd to work, but this problem has aleazrdy been registered.
you shoul click on START, RUN, and type "regedit"
then search in the tree the branch
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
in this, remove the Upperfilters & Lowerfilters values.
reboot, it should work
if really not working after that, download and install the firmware update you can download at

HL-DT-DVD-RW GSA H60L DVDE DRIVE
I just posted a reply to another message that is almost the same. Could be you. It is the foam pad ring from a new CD or DVD spindle that was stuck on a disc that you put in and missed it. It does not go back in the drive. It goes in the trash.
The ring is used hold the discs solidly on new retail spindle. The noise was the drive strugging with an unbalanced disc.
If you caught it right away and nothing hit the laser or lens you are ok. Try reading or burning another disc.
Cheers

can I add a removable drive as I have a slot in Back for one, and if so where do I get one
You should be able to buy an external USB drive (or thumb drive) at any electronics store.
You can connect a USB hard disk drive or USB
memory stick to your TV by using the USB inputs of
the TV. This feature allows you to play files stored in
a USB drive. 2.5" and 3.5" inch (hdd with external
power supply) external hard disk drives are supported.
IMPORTANT! You should back up your files before
making any connections to the TV set in order to
avoid any possible data loss. Manufacturer will not
be responsible for any file damage or data loss. It is
possible that certain types of USB devices (e.g. MP3
Players) or USB hard disk drives/memory sticks may
not be compatible with this TV.
Quickly plugging and unplugging USB devices, is a
very hazardous operation. Do not repeatedly quickly
plug and unplug the drive. This may cause physical
damage to the USB player and USB device itself. Do
not pull out USB module while playing a file.
Media Browser Menu
You can play photo, music, and movie files stored
on a USB disk by connecting it to your TV and using
the Media Browser screen. To do this, perform the
following: Connect a USB disk to one of the USB
inputs located on the side of the TV.
You can connect two USB devices to your TV. If both
USB devices include music, picture or video files, USB
selection OSD will be displayed on the screen. The
first USB device connected to the TV will be named
as USB Drive1. Select a device by using up or down arrows
and press OK
