How can I fix my computer?

Realty LTD, the following depends on your company's policies but if you are allowed, first thing is to check for driver updates in both Windows Update option and device manager. For Window Updates, Control Panel>System and Security>Windows Update. You may see links for important and optional updates. Check in both and look for specific hardware related drivers, not windows security and os updates. If there are any only update those. Next check Device manager. Control Panel>System and Security>Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Device Manager(on left panel). If there are any yellow yield signs and a carrot is open, right click it and select update driver. If none of this works please clarify further. Is the sound like a fan? Do you feel accompanying heat? Does it get loud only when using specific applications or is it all the time? Things like that.

Power supply

WARNING: Before you start troubleshooting remember that you are dealing with electricity that can KILL.

http://www.kitchentablecomputers.com/static.php - rules

Unplug all electronic cords connected to the computer.

At no time during the installation should any cords be connected to the computer.

Remove the screws holding the computer cover case, and remove the cover case.

Locate the computer power supply box, which looks like a large box out of which a bundle of wires run and connects to the power cord jack on the outside of the computer case.

Unplug the power cables from the internal devices connected to it.

Be careful not to damage any of the sensitive control boards or devices inside the computer, and be certain to remember write it down if you need to what devices will need reconnecting to the new power supply when you finish the installation.

Unscrew the power supply from the inside of the computer case and remove it.

Check the original power supply's red voltage switch for the correct setting.

It should read 120 or 240 if you live within the United States.

Confirm this setting as the correct voltage setting for your power outlets.

Make sure your new power supply gets set to the correct voltage setting before you install it.

If it cannot be set to the correct voltage, do not proceed with the installation or you may damage your computer.

Return the new power supply and buy one that is compatible with the voltage requirements.

Install the new power supply, reattach the screws that will hold it in the proper place inside the computer.

Reattach the power cables that come from the new power supply to the devices that were connected to the old power supply.

Make sure all of these connections are firmly in place before you turn the computer back on.

Reattach the computer power cables and all the cords connected to the computer during normal operation, but do not close the computer case yet.

Keep your hands clear of the inside of the computer case as you attach power cords and peripheral devices.

Turn the computer on and observe the performance of the computer without touching anything inside.

Do all the computer fans function normally?

Does the computer operate as well as or better than before?

If you feel that the computer behaves normally and you do not encounter any problems, turn the computer off, remove all the power cords and peripheral cables once more, and close the computer case.

Then reattach the power cords and peripheral cables and begin using the computer.

Check for errors if you encountered any problems starting the computer or if it would not start at all, unplug all the power cords and computer cables connected to the computer and look inside.

Make sure that you connected all the correct power cables inside the computer securely and did not miss any.

If you have confirmed this and the computer still doesn't start or operate normally, call your computer manufacturer or a professional computer repair shop for assistance completing the installation. Most power supply units will fit Like everything else in our high-tech world, power supplies come in myriad sizes and shapes you should check all the electrical connections before you make a decision and make sure they are the same as the ones that you will need to run your computer also Check the measurements inside the frame to make absolutely sure it will fit,

My monitor says out of

You have set the resolution or refresh rate of your display adapter to a value which is too high than what is supported by your monitor.
In order to fix this, you have to do the following:
1. Reboot your computer & press F8 to boot into Safe Mode.
2. Once in Safe Mode, open Device Manager.
3. Remove the display adapter device driver form Device Manager.
4. Reboot your computer again. Windows will boot up normally & will detect the display adapter. It will prompt you for the device driver for the display adapter.
5. Use the CD that came with your display adapter to install the device driver. Once done, your problem is fixed.

I removed a d links

You need to go to the website of the cards company and download the drivers for the card. If it is a PCI card then make sure that it is seated properly on your motherboard. If you switched the card to a computer with a newer operating system then it might not be compatible.

Need to know how much ram and what type of ram it

http://www.crucial.com/ will scan your computer and tell you what kind you need. the amount you need is dependent on what you are going to use the computer for if you are going use it if you are going to be doing heavy networking, video editing or anything like that i would say 4 gb of ram but 2 gb runs a pretty good computer.

Where is the usb port

I don't have one of these, but from looking at the picture then I am guessing there is probably a couple on the back. They should be up the right hand side, with all the other ports. There will be some on the back somewhere.

Hope this helps.

I have the Insignia D300a for a few years and have

May I know since when you are facing this issue? The symptomps you have described tells that it might be an issue with the operating system of the pc. looks like you are using windows xp in your pc. You can try running a system restore. Start>All Programs>Accesories>System tools>System Restore. Then you will get the window of system restore and you will have click on the option that says Restore My Computer to an earlier date/earlier point in time. Once u click on that it will show u the calender. If u are sure about the point in time from which u r facing this issue look for the date. But you will be able to restore ur pc only to those dates that are marked in bold. Click on that date and keep hitting next until it starts the restoration. If it does not help then try this. Click on start>Control panel>Add or remove programs. once the add or remove programs window comes up on the left hand column u will get an option called Add/Remove Windows Components. On the list that comes up u will get the options for Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. Uncheck them and restart the pc. And follow the same process to put check marks on those two options. IF this does not help most likely u will have reformat the hard drive and reinstall windows. If u dont want to run the format then u can use another browser like mozilla firefox and use another email client like Windows live mail and u can download them free from web. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ is the link to download mozilla firefox and http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail?os=other is the link to download the latest version of live mail.

What type of video card may I order to go in this

hi, im new with the whole computer knowledge but i have done some research seeing as i have this comp as well. just like me your needing to upgrade the comp to be more sufficient and up to par with todays upgrades seeing as this comp is old and prolly got it at Best Buy. but if your going to do some heavy media, gaming etc. i suggest getting a new comp that is up to date with todays changes. only reason why is the video card you require for this comp is a PCI which i have read is the lowest quality and probably soon to be obsolete that many programs dont support anymore. dont get me wrong you can still buy them, but dont expect high quality performance. remember you need a PCI not PCI Express (PCIE) to fit the slot that your motherboard has. ive done alot of searches for PCI video cards, i suggest just to google it or check newegg.com. im still actually looking around myself. im sure if you have this comp your also looking for an inexpensive part. anyways i hope this helped.

my upgrades are:
500 hard drive
60 slave
2g memory
