My power source for hard
Hi, yes you can,in fact I have just replaced a customers PSU for his 1 Terabyte drive, his PSU blew the onboard fuse, so we got a replacement, from Ebay, they have many many sorts all differing Pin-Outs, just look for the one that fits yours, (They have drawings) they are all pretty standard and there are about 3 maybe 4 types to choose from. Alternatively, if you cannot find the pinout, simply get an AC/DC supply, check the OLD adapter and just get one with same or more higher ratings in the Amps but same in Volts.
But check the internal drive actually works, the customers on didn't, the new PSU worked fine, however the HDD inside didn't, upon testing it was found that the USB electronics inside were OK, however the power transistor ON the actual HDD itself had "Blown" and was burnt and smelt that way. So B4 you get a supply open up the unit and check if all is well internally,.I NOW, use a SATA/IDE HDD/DVD to USB dongle, (Got from Ebay) and test it with this ...
