How do i change password

to change the password on a netgear, you first need to secure or make sure that you are connected to it. be it wireless or hardwired. after ensuring that your laptop is connected, open a browser, and type or www.routerlogin.net, then it would ask you for a username and password. username is " admin " password is " password " then it would take you now to the netgear page. on the left side of that screen, click on wireless settings, then you can start changing your password in security option. then click apply.

I do not know the password for the modem

Modems don't have a password, unless you have DSL with a password provided by your ISP. Then only you ISP can manage your account.

Wierless router not responding

CONTINUAL DISCONNECTION OF WIRELESS CONNECTION There are a few things thatcan cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move thewireless router away from brick or concrete walls and if possible locatethe wireless router higher up.2. Have you secured yourwireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? i.e. change thedefault password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID,and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC addressfiltering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s toconnect to your wireless router.3. You could be gettinginterference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arc welders, washing machines etc. If so, the power supply to the wireless routers andcomputers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, betterstill connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted PowerSupply). 4. Check the channels ofthe wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcastchannel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currentlyused but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interferencewith your wireless router from other wireless routers and accesspoints in your area.

I have a problem with my router login.I have tried

If the router ssid reads virginmedia.... then you have not reset the router. The default name for a Netgear router is Netgear.Push the reset button in (on the back of the router) and hold it for at least 15 seconds or until the power light flashes. Now the username and password and SSID should be reset to the default.

Ive currently got the netgear

Check the following and then try the solution:

1. Do you have other wireless devices connected?

Yes, go to solution #1, if you know the SSID then try solution #2
No, go to step 2.

2. Are there any wifi connection listed in range?

Yes, go to solution #1, if you know the SSID then try solution #2
No, go to step 3

3. Go to a location were you know there is a wifi connection, can you see this connection in the wireless assistant?

Yes, go to solution #1
No, go to solution #2

#1 my thought is you are not sure of what the SSID is, so place the laptop next to the Netgear router and chose the best wifi signal to connect to in wireless assistant.

#2 There is a switch/or button on the laptop to turn on the wireless. It is normally somewere on the side of the laptop, turn it on and it should glow blue. Now try to connect to your router.

Hope this helps
